Gun Control Poll Question
Your stance on the "gun control" issue?
In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.
Re: Gun Control Poll Question
If I buy a weapon at a gun show, is a background check still done? I hear anyone with money can buy a gun from a gun show.

Re: Gun Control Poll Question
I think you have the right to arm yourself however I think increased gun education can be beneficial, as can stricker background checks and liscencing. There is nothing unconstitutional about making a person have a license to carry a gun, we already do this for Concealed Weapon Permits. I think limiting the magazine capacity is ridiculous. We can try to regulate this as much as possible but in reality, people must be held accountable and given the education. Education is freedom, IMO. Furthermore, if you have a mentally unstable child, you might not want to leave the weapon open and accessible. Have a gun safe where only you and your spouse know the code and/or have the key. Or don't have guns to begin with. The "assault rifle", if I understand correctly, is already banned. Guns like the kind used at Sandy Hook look like the traditional assault rifle, but aren't like the M16s we field. These are single shot rifles (correct me if I'm wrong. I'm a gun novice).
From my experience, I grew up shooting shotguns, rifles and compound bows. We had one rifle and shotgun at the house, the rest were left at the farm. They were always in the corner of my parents bedroom but we were taught to respect the weapon. They were never loaded ( I think my father hid the shells/bullets in his underwear drawer) and my 2 brothers and 2 sisters turned out fine. My parents should've used a safe but we all were educated on how to clean, load and fire the weapons. We were educated on how dangerous they can be.

Gun control means using two hands. Education about guns is a good thing. Look at the Swiss, second highest gun ownership in Europe and one of the lowest gun crime rates. Males are educated on how to use a gun and sent home with one as a part of their defense system.

That is following compulsory military service beginning at age 18, we ought to be seriously looking at how everything is done in Switzerland.LeadBolt wrote:Gun control means using two hands. Re: Gun Control Poll Question
I get the idea of accessibility to kids being a problem, but (having no kids) if I kept my ammo and weapons separated then I might as well keep a bucket of baseballs next to the bed to throw at an intruder since I couldn't be prepared quickly enough after being jolted awake in the middle of the night. I'm the click of a safety away from being ready as it stands now, and my wife has spent enough time at the range to be comfortable with that. Kids come over to visit and we hide the guns where they can't get to them.Ibanez wrote:I think you have the right to arm yourself however I think increased gun education can be beneficial, as can stricker background checks and liscencing. As for licensing, it wouldn't have prevented Sandy Hook and again it comes down to penalizing those who want to follow the rules vs. those who will obtain and use weapons illegally. Crazy people will always walk among us whether we have guns available or not and they'll use rocks, clubs, knives, etc. in the absence of a gun. If you can somehow weed out some portion of the crazies it would help but I'm not sure what methodology our idiot government would use to screen them.

Re: Gun Control Poll Question
Folks, the most dangerous gun in the world is one that is thought to be unloaded.
There are no unloaded guns in my household, I do not own any unloaded guns. All my guns are loaded, all the time.
Therefore, nobody can say, I thought it was unloaded at my house anyways.

Exactly. Nothing wrong with basic training & compulsory service. Twenty percent of Swiss are found not to qualify, btw. You can apply for non-weapon service if you object on moral grounds.Wedgebuster wrote:That is following compulsory military service beginning at age 18, we ought to be seriously looking at how everything is done in Switzerland.LeadBolt wrote:Gun control means using two hands. EXACTLY!ASUG8 wrote: As for licensing, it wouldn't have prevented Sandy Hook and again it comes down to penalizing those who want to follow the rules vs. those who will obtain and use weapons illegally.
They're trying to use Sandy Hook as a reason to have more gun control- when Adam Lanza allegedly STOLE the guns he used.
Australia had a gun ban, and what happened? Gun related crimes went through the roof, as did assault, break ins and other crimes.
Which cities in the US have the highest rate of violent crime? Those in which citizens aren't legally allowed to own a gun -Chicago is a shining example of how gun laws actually cause more crime, as criminals uninterested in the law become the only ones who have guns-
In Mexico, owning a gun is illegal, yet, they have one of the highest rates of gun violence in the world!
Gun control people are one of the dumbest, least informed (yet vocal and holier-than-though-art) segments of the population there are- and they want to thrust their belief system on the rest of us, never learning from history - ignoring the Constitution, and never learning that every single dictator has enforced gun control before becoming genocidal.
Study after study proving that gun control actually increases crime and gun violence and they ignore it.
Not to mention it is clearly a constitutional right, which shall not be infringed. I don't even know why there is a conversation on this topic- the answer is no, gun control is unconstitutional, it's our god-given right, therefore, discussion ended.
In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.

God-given right? C'mon now. Re: Gun Control Poll Question
Expandopants is right, Lanza broke several laws before entering the grade school to execute Kindergartners.
Since the first crime had to happen before he had a firearm in his possession, what could we do to shore up unlawful entry, burglary, and gun theft laws which would have prevented Lanza from committing this initial crime?

But if you purchase from a licensed dealer at a gun show, then there is a background check performed...
Liberal media like c to call it "the gun show loophole" but it is not a loophole...lt is no different than you purchasing a gun from me in my living room...

But, it also doesn't contradict this, nor do I disagree with it:Yes, however there should be increase background checks, and no more guns sold at shows.
Yes - Guns are a fundamental part of our rights as Americans, rights clearly delineated in the Constitution by the founding fathers. Americans should be able to own any gun in production currently, with any amount of rounds.

They might as well eliminate background checks altogether. Do you know of a single person who would submit to a background check if they thought it would prevent them from getting a gun? Fuck no. The criminals don't DO background checks. They buy black market....mrklean wrote:Crack Down on the Background checks at Gun Shows, but dont tell me what type of gun to own. Yep he broke the law and stole a gun from a legal gun owner. If you were smart (which you libs are not) you would realize that creating more laws that wont be followed is not only a bad idea its a waste of time and money.
