Stony Brook adds North Dakota...
There's nothing on the Stony Brook web site yet, but it appears they have added an away game at North Dakota to their schedule...
Another team doing what it needs to build a program...Congrats...and Good Luck...

Which team are you referring to Col? I assume ND and I think they put a nice schedule together for themselves. Even the NAIA is a real tough team with some pretty decent weapons. I got to see them play in person in their NC game and they are gonna be undersized against ND i would think but they are a gritty bunch. Tough schedule UND fans and good luck to you all.Col Hogan wrote:There's nothing on the Stony Brook web site yet, but it appears they have added an away game at North Dakota to their schedule...

I was referring to SB...they have a good schedule coming together, with UND and UMass among them...Ursus A. Horribilis wrote:Which team are you referring to Col? I am still upset Bryant never got a return game! I rather see SBU than CCSU. Even if it was another away game. It would have been better for Bryant

Re: Stony Brook adds North Dakota...
What is the deal with Stony Brook? They're a northern team in the Big South, they have 4 home games(if I remember correctly) and they play all over the place?

Re: Stony Brook adds North Dakota...
they wanted full scholarship football and that was the best option at the time.

It was either the Big South or Indy.dgreco wrote:they wanted full scholarship football and that was the best option at the time.
SBU is rumored to have some serious Title IX spending issues on the horizon. Take that issue coupled with the loss of their "sugar daddy" on the Higher Education Committee of the NY Legis (Ken Lavalle - stadium named after him) and you have a program that sounds like it has to take every money game it can get its hands on.

They have no counterpart for full scholarship football. I think they'll end up dropping Men's swimming and diving and perhaps tennis (like most schools have done).

9-9 just wont work when you have scholarship football. I wouldn't be surprised to see baseball dropped first. That will ease the pain pretty quickly.

You would think baseball, but Joe Nathan is an alumn and huge donor. If they cut baseball they'd eliminate him.dgreco wrote:9-9 just wont work when you have scholarship football. I wouldn't be surprised to see baseball dropped first. That will ease the pain pretty quickly.

They could drop every other men's sport, since they suck at all of them except football.
Sorry.....couldn't let a SBU thread go by without saying they suck at least once.

Albany gets the shaft, with Buffalo and SBU.. Even though most playoffs include Albany.

Albany has more conference championships and NCAA appearances than Buffalo, SBU and Binghamton combined.
We get the shaft for three reasons: (1) we haven't a permanent president for almost 2 years; (2) our local representatives in the NYS legislature aren't willing to step up despite the fact that UAlbany has over a $1 billion yearly economic impact on the region; and (3) our athletic administrators don't have an ounce of political ability.
It really is sad and its starting to piss a lot of alumni/donors off.
Re: Stony Brook adds North Dakota...
I would be very disappointed. When I started to really understand the dynamic of the SUNY system and saw how much athletic Albany offers for recognition wise and how little they receive I was surprised. Of course Buffalo has the lure of being an FBS school so they obviously get more, but SBU is the big surprise. You think being in the Capital would actually help the school, but it clearly hasn't.
