That is not what he said. He said that he favored hard labor. He didn't say that abolishing the death penalty should be conditional on adding hard labor.

I might share what my friends and I possibly did to horseshoe crabs with shotguns when we were teenaged hooligans, but it may or may not have been a crime, so I wouldn't do that, if we had done something so silly.
There's a facility in Charleston where they bleed horseshoe crabs. The blood is extracted from the live crabs and is used for a bunch of medical applications. They keep the crabs in these big tanks where they swim around and do whatever crabs do... then they pull them out and open a little valve on a needle that is permanently stuck up their rear ends.
The blood is bright blue, almost neon looking.
