Yup. My life would be a lot easier if a budget or a CR gets passed quickly. I can't believe we allow or government to operate like this.

And that's 100% on the donks, because Harry Reid refuses to bring one to the floor. The donk controlled Senate fails to produce a budget the last 4 years. On the other hand, the conk controlled House manages to pass one every year....

It's very sad when the Democrats control the Senate and the White House and they still can't pass a budget.

They have been telling themselves that they will get to it tomorrow.

If a budget or CR was magically passed today, then My last month of hell will have been in vain. If a CR is passed today, then the hellish day I have planned for Monday won't take place. My hellish day yesterday, where I worked 11 hours and kept 5 government employees til 6 pm( they leave at 3) then YESTERDAY would've been in vain.

I don't know what the point of all of that was. I'm pretty pissed at the problems that COngress has started for many. They've created such a headache for me. I've been in a shitty mood since January 1. :tothehand:

Round 1: Jan 1- Fiscal Cliff

Round 2: March 1- Sequestration

Round 3: March 27: Expiration of the continuing resolution funding the federal government.

Operating under continuing resolution at 2012 budget level for 1st 6 months of FY 2013.

Round 4: May 18- Debt ceiling limit hit.

On Jan 31 Senate & House House passed debt limit bill "No Budget, No Pay Act of 2013" extending the current borrowing cap of $16.4 trillion through at least May 18. Bill also included a provision that would delay the salaries of Congressmen of any house that had not passed a resolution on the FY2013 budget by April 15, 2013.

Republicans should again insist, as they did in 2011, that any debt ceiling increase have a matching amount of cuts (which could be in the form of entitlement reform). Remember, in 2011 if the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction (Supercommittee) (12 from Congress, 6 from each party, 3 from each party in each house) had come to an agreement, we wouldn't be facing sequestration now.
House punted 2 days ago till Sept 30. Senate will likely follow suit next week. :ohno:

So it looks like the May 18 debt ceiling limit becomes the new Round 3, and the continuing resolution becomes the new Round 4.
So basically all that grandstanding was done for nothing. WAFJ Congress is.

I have no respect for either party, but this is B.S...

The House has passed a budget every year...the Democratic leader of the Senate has refused to even consider them...

I understand they have major differences...why not craft your own version and then fight it out when they do reconciliation between the House and Senate version...that way, the people can compare and contrast priorities...

But Reid has simply not allowed discussion of the House bills...and refused to show us his priority...

It's 100% on Harry Reid...

Yes. Last yr alone, from last May:

"Democrat-led Senate votes down 4 GOP budgets for 2013

The Senate on Wednesday rejected every single budget being offered this year, leaving the chamber — and therefore the federal government — without a plan to address Medicare, Social Security and the other major entitlement programs that are driving deficits and debt.

In repeated votes, Democrats who control the chamber defeated four Republican proposals, including a plan that passed the House in March. The entire Senate also unanimously rejected President Obama’s 2013 budget, voting 99-0 against it, following a 414-0 vote against it in the House earlier this year.

“A stunning development for the president of the United States in his fourth year in office,” said Sen. Jeff Sessions, Alabama Republican.

Congress is required by law to pass a budget by April 15, then write the annual spending and tax laws to carry out the budget’s targets.

But for the third straight year, Democrats didn’t offer a plan of their own in the Senate. The last time it did pass one was in 2009, when Democrats controlled all the levers and wrote the measure that paved the way for them to pass Mr. Obama’s health care law......................"

"Senate Dem budget includes nearly $1 trillion in new taxes

The first budget from Senate Democrats in four years includes nearly $1 trillion in new taxes but would not balance the budget.

The blueprint unveiled by Senate Budget Committee Chairwoman Patty Murray (D-Wash.) on Tuesday to her Democratic colleagues would also turn off the next nine years of the sequester and replace those spending cuts with a 50-50 mix of tax increases and spending cuts.

The budget would dedicate $100 billion to economic stimulus in the form of infrastructure spending and job training.
Murray argues that her budget cuts $1.85 trilion from deficits over ten years. But once the sequester cuts are turned off, Murray’s budget appears to reduce deficits by about $800 billion, using the Congressional Budget Office’s baseline. The Murray budget does not contain net spending cuts with the sequester turned off.

The details of Murray’s budget came hours after House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) released his budget, which reduces tax rates and slashes spending much more deeply that Murray’s budget.

The Ryan budget would balance in 10 years without raising taxes and by reducing spending over the next decade by $5.7 trillion compared to the CBO baseline."

So basically what you have here is more hyper-partisan BS. Both Ryan & Murray come out with budget ideas that are pie-in-the sky partisan. Bitches, the word is compromise, you'll never get everything you want. Ryan needs to realize he & Romney lost the election barely 4 months ago & Murray sounds like a lap dog for Obama's stumping.

The sequester is a damn good start & looky here - we can not only survive it, but we can thrive with it. The economy, despite Washington's best efforts to restrain it is actually improving. They need to get much more serious in the Beltway about cutting expenses. They just did with the DOD among others, you mean to tell me they can't find 10%-15% waste in every federal Department. If they can't they're not looking hard enough. No one wants a growing deficit, stop spending $$ you don't have & get serious about it versus kissing your own party's ass & wasting everyone's time.

Cut 2013 Federal spending 2% from 2012's actual and limit increases in spending, taxes and benefits to 75% of inflation going forward. Tighten up deductions and loop holes and reduce rates to reduce the opportunities and incentives to cheat.

Peg the top rate @ 33% and put in a new low rate at the bottom on lower income amounts that will hit virtually everyone. Eliminate instances where individuals get more back in refunds and credits than they paid in.

We heard the 2-week rumor also, but in keeping with the unofficial Marine Corps motto of "first to go, last to know", we will likely be the last branch to be notified.

I guess delay is to allow the service Secretaries to decide if they want to move O&M accounts to lessen or possibly avoid civilian furloughs or if they want us to go ahead and suffer. I will say that if one agency goes along with furlough while several others do not, the former is going to lose a lot of employees.

Good news for Hogan and 93HenFan

The Pentagon will sharply cut the number of unpaid furlough days civilians will be forced to take over the next several months from 22 to 14, defense officials said Wednesday, reducing the impact of automatic budget cuts on as many as 700,000 workers.
Under the new plan, the unpaid furloughs would not begin until mid-June, with notices going out before that.

Hey 93.
Relax. You won't lose a dime. This will get worked out at the last minute like everything else does.
If not, I pledge to personally supplement your income in the amount of any losses you incur because of the furlough.

I lie. :kisswink:
