I saw something funny this morning on DC News Channel 8. The ditzy blonde anchor was phone interviewing the head of Fairfax County Emergency Ops. He says pointedly "Citizens, DO NOT call 911 to report power outages. Only call 911 for a life or limb emergency." Then he gave the number for the power company.

Wait for it...

Ditzy blonde then wraps up the interview with, "Thank you sir. So there you have it folks, if your power goes out, if you can't get through to 911 you can try calling the power company."

The Colonel might be off the hook. Air Force is looking at using flexibilities granted under the likely-to-pass defense appropriations bill to shift O&M funding to buy out civilian furloughs. I hope they set the precedent and the Navy/MC follows suit.

1) She is the only one whom I've seen speak
2) I saw her two times last year and once about two weeks ago...she is impressive. Smart girl...heard she was a lawyer and I believe it because she kept bringing the conversation back to her direct questions when guests were trying to obfuscate and avoid answering by going off onto tangents. She'd make a great moderator for the Presidential debates because both sides would have their nonsense exposed immediately.
3) 3 is not really needed, but I wanted to reiterate that she is HOT.

Just remember, Sequestration is only round 2 of 4 for 2013:

Round 1: Jan 1- Fiscal Cliff

Round 2: March 1- Sequestration

Round 3: March 27: Expiration of the continuing resolution funding the federal government.

Operating under continuing resolution at 2012 budget level for 1st 6 months of FY 2013.

Round 4: May 18- Debt ceiling limit hit.

On Jan 31 Senate & House House passed debt limit bill "No Budget, No Pay Act of 2013" extending the current borrowing cap of $16.4 trillion through at least May 18. Bill also included a provision that would delay the salaries of Congressmen of any house that had not passed a resolution on the FY2013 budget by April 15, 2013.

Republicans should again insist, as they did in 2011, that any debt ceiling increase have a matching amount of cuts (which could be in the form of entitlement reform). Remember, in 2011 if the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction (Supercommittee) (12 from Congress, 6 from each party, 3 from each party in each house) had come to an agreement, we wouldn't be facing sequestration now.

House punted 2 days ago till Sept 30. Senate will likely follow suit next week.

So it looks like the May 18 debt ceiling limit becomes the new Round 3, and the continuing resolution becomes the new Round 4.
