I also agree with this. It also reminds me of when a Coach takes a job right before spring, and it creates a domino effect for teams all over the place. I get the reason, but is sure pisses me off.SuperHornet wrote:JayJ79 wrote:I've always thought that buyout clauses should have an incremental structure. Normally, I don't like very much Kitty fans post, but this is at the top of the list. Coaches should be penalized for that trash. Putting a school behind the 8 ball like that is horrendously stupid.SACCAT wrote:I also agree with this. I am still waiting for JBB/Lakes or any NDSU fan to explain to me how MSU did something wrong. They exercised their option to buy out the game, the contract BOTH teams signed, ...so...what is with the big uproar?

What I want to know, is how much it costs NDSU to use the FargoDome for games?

A. He's pissed.
B. He wants NDSU to move to the Mountain West or MAC conference
C. He's tired of FCS AD's buying out of games...and he's mad at the Big Ten for dropping FCS games, too.
So yeah, classic lakes.

So it turns out we used the SMU money, to buy out NDSU and bring in Monmouth and Mesa State

Monmouth might be a better chance for a counter win than NDSU, but a win over NDSU might count more for the seeding.SACCAT wrote:So it turns out we used the SMU money, to buy out NDSU and bring in Monmouth and Mesa State

I like it when Big Sky teams play conferences they don't normally play. Like when Montana played Albany twice & Liberty last year.CatBlitz22 wrote:A lot of people are disappointed with it but I think it's pretty decent.kalm wrote:

Re: Montana State buys out 2013 NDSU Game
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but if memory serves, NDSU leases the Fargodome for $1 per year. The city owns the building, but it sits on land owned by NDSU, so a very low rental fee was written into the contract.SeattleGriz wrote:What I want to know, is how much it costs NDSU to use the FargoDome for games?
Regarding the buyout. I'm basically over it and just waiting for the replacement game announcement. I was hoping that would be happening this week already.

Re: Montana State buys out 2013 NDSU Game
Wonder what it will cost NDSU to fill this game now?
Probably 250-300K....esp when Delaware State is getting 200K.
When NDSU went to play Ball State in '06, I think the Bison were paid something like 175K. Now it costs FCS teams that to bring in other FCS schools....

Re: Montana State buys out 2013 NDSU Game
Sounds like Montana State has some budget issues....
BOZEMAN, Mont. — Montana State University's athletic department is facing a budget crunch that has it raising ticket prices, asking for higher donations from boosters and asking the school for another $1.1 million to buy new equipment, hire trainers and stabilize the department's budget.
http://www.inforum.com/event/article/id ... /homepage/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;Fields has said that budget issues are the reason the Bobcats are taking a $300,000 guarantee to play a football game at SMU, and using $100,000 to buy out MSU's game at two-time FCS national champion North Dakota State and using the other $200,000 to provide a guarantee for Monmouth to play the season-opener in Bozeman.
“We had to generate a home game,” Fields said, calling it “critically important to us financially.”
Re: Montana State buys out 2013 NDSU Game
I know Under armor just got the contract for the jerseys and they are "rebranding" (new logo, at least one alt. jersey) So they will have to replace the fast cat in the middle of the field (I think it stretches from the 35 to the other 35.) All this adds up. That and we are going with a Matte Blue helmet for one of the games (hope to GOD it isn't Cat/griz)FargoBison wrote:Sounds like Montana State has some budget issues....
