I agree with Fuhrman. The media has painted this guy as a GI Joe Ninja World Destroyer. He is just a man who has no more training than your basic Army infantryman. I predicted that he was going to hole up, get cornered, possibly take out one or two more guys when they initially find him, but his spree was essentially over. That is exactly what has happened. Fuhrman is simply saying that he isn't the superman people are making him out to be.JohnStOnge wrote:I was wondering when Mark Furman was going to stop talking about how this guy wasn't that well trained and concede that he was dangerous and that cops who confronted him were going to have their hands full.
Don't know how much formal training he had but I think it's pretty self evident that he was capable of dealing with cops who tried to stop him on their own.
And no I did not support what he was doing like some people apparently are. I just kept marveling at the way Mark Furman kept coming on TV downplaying his capabilities and the level of threat he was.

Exactly. This guy had some training in the Navy & from the LAPD, but he was no Jason Bourne Rambo that a lot of the media was making him out to be.CID1990 wrote:I agree with Fuhrman. No he isn't bulletproof but there comes a point at which it becomes pretty evident that for whatever reason he could handle himself pretty well. I mean, the last time I heard Furman saying that stuff he had just had a gun battle with two deputies and an unknown number of wildlife agents (presumably at least two), gotten through it, and knocked two officers down including killing one. I understand what Furman was saying about the formal training he had but sometimes formal training isn't the whole story (I'm talking about in a general sense; in any area of expertise). I mean, what is the point of basically saying, "he's not all that" in terms of threat level when he just took on at least four law enforcement officers in a gun battle and came out on the better end of it?He isn't bulletproof. Lots of special ops guys have been killed by goat herders.

I haven't looked any of it up but reportedly he was getting support from a fair number of people on radio talk show call ins and such. Over the past few days I've seen several reports of that kind of thing. First time I saw it was Geraldo Rivera talking about what was going on on his radio show (didn't know he had one but that's what he was talking about). Some random guy posts something. And?

Initiative, ambush, police rules of engagement. Those are much more significant factors than Dorners training in this situation.JohnStOnge wrote:No he isn't bulletproof but there comes a point at which it becomes pretty evident that for whatever reason he could handle himself pretty well.
