They also estimated 55% of Tea Party people made more than $50,000 per year vs. 50% of the population. The poll margin of error is +/- 4 percentage points so once you take that into account you'd conclude that income wise their distribution is close to that of the general population but a little "higher." Proportionately less "poor." And of course the overwhelming majority of them are not "poor."

They're not all that far off from the proportions of the general population race wise either. Somewhat more White but not that much. Good point and I'm guessing Karl Rove's stock as tactician has taken a serious hit. But the money they spend on the state level is probably just as important. So you lose some battles, but given the jump in their wealth over the past decade, I'd say they're still winning the war. They play the game about as good as anyone.
