I think you underestimate first century Roman civilization and Roman citizens.D1B wrote:First Century Christians!JoltinJoe wrote:The Anti-Christ referred to in the Book of Revelation was Nero. Nero's gemantra equaled 666 and every first century Christian would have readily understood this.

They wouldn't have understood much. They were a pathetic, ignorant lot who were more likely to be pagan, Jew (religion) or one of hundreds of other bullshit religious sects vying for the souls and cash of the scared shitless masses.
Because the bible is such a joke as a record of history and the development of religion, this opened the door for the catholic church to pretty much invent its history. Christianity really started in the 3rd century thanks to powerful politicians and tyrants who saw the value in selling salvation to pathetic, ignorant people in return for their obedience and labor.
You'll notice "Jesus" or God never appeared and worked their miracles in an advanced and literate culture at the time like China. Think of it...millions upon millions of literate, advanced people who could have spread the word of the lord with incredible efficiency and accuracy. They would have wrote everything down, millions of times, in clear legible text for succeeding generations to learn from and appreciate.
Well, no, the christian god decides to send his clone, son, Jesus, to be killed by a hoard of mentally retarded bronze age goat **** in a sparsely populated desert shithole located in the anus of the world.
Religion.
Rome was the greatest city in the world and Christianity spread from Rome.
