The funny thing is, that the weapons makers will bitch about Obama and the pending weapons band. However, they jacked up the prices to all weapons and parts. Th average price for a new M4 was between 1200-1400. Now its over 2k. A single 30 round m4 mag. was 8.00 now its 25.00.

Weapon and ammo makers are rolling in dough right now, as are pawn shops and other gun retailers so I'm doubting they're terribly upset about it. Every place I've been in the last couple of months has been sold out or nearly so, and the gun range I go to is rationing ammo and has long waits to shoot.

I'll get nailed for this, but I kind of get the proposed assault weapons ban simply because I don't really want or need one and haven't really heard a compelling case for having them around (except they're fun to shoot). My opinion is that Obama will get blasted for putting a band-aid on the problem when gun violence isn't simply caused by the weapon itself. Penalizing folks who attempt to buy guns through legal channels while failing to address the prevalence of weapons obtained through black market channels is absolutely wrong. If legislation is enacted it should take a more objective view of root causes for gun violence. Drug use? Mental health issues? Spend the money on screening buyers and confiscation of weapons illegally obtained. There are no easy answers to this, but making sane folks jump through hoops while ignoring the criminal element is....criminal.
