I guess Lenoir-Rhyne Head Coach, Mike Houston, is out of the running. I just read in the transactions section of today's Charlotte Observer that Coach Houston received a contract extension through 2016.

Charleston Southern University will hold a press conference on Thursday, Jan. 17 at 1 p.m. to introduce its new Head Football Coach. The press conference will be held in Buccaneer Fieldhouse.

No hint that I can find on who it is yet.

Odds on favorite is a surprise but a welcome one. Post and Courier says that former assistant head coach Jamie Chadwell will be announced as the new CSU head coach today. Great news from where I sit.

This is a GREAT hire!!! Coach Chadwell was at Charleston Southern and played a big part in its finest and most successful days with Collin Drafts, the Big South Championship season, and having an impact on the offense while he was at CSU as an assistant.

As I said in my earlier post, all of the candidates that were mentioned were high quality. He wasn't mentioned, but is also very high quality. I had a feeling all along that he was going to get it. He's been at CSU before, knows the school, knows the environment, left to get some head coaching at experience at a similar type school (small, Christian - North Greenville) with great and immediate success. He recruited a friend of mine to go to North Greenville and from the kid's and parents' accounts was a great recruiter while at North Greenville. He was a great recruiter while at Charleston Southern.

Bottom line, Charleston Southern got their man.

Young, dynamic, innovative, successful.

Can't wait. Let's kickoff and play some ball.
