Where does any money come from? Drop in the bucket compared to the 66 billion wasted on the F-22 pork plane

$100 billion? I wish it was that inexpensive. Many trillions have been spent on Great Society programs in the last 45 years.

Stennis can go to Vandenburg. We can expand shipyards in WA, CA and VA.
Side note:
I was driving across the bay 2 days before Christmas and I saw more carriers in port than ever before.
I can't ever remember seeing more than 4 carriers in port at one time.
I am surprised there is enough room there for all of them (counting the fleet of ships that are in each carrier group too).
I would have said that I don't think there is any room to expand(spanos) the Norfolk naval base, but I didn't think there was enough room for all those carrier groups either.

Turns out that someone snapped a shot on 12/20/12 saying there were 9 total carriers (5 big boys). :thumb:

As a resident independent, without doing any in-depth research I'm going to push my spineless jello mold across the line and agree with Jon on this one. As elected representatives, these people should be doing what is best for their districts and for the country. It is hypocritical to vote for disaster aid for your region and then vote against it for another region after a storm like Sandy.

And I think TTBF has a very valid point. The Tea Party minions put Boehner in a touch position by not allowing any compromise on the fiscal cliff and then got pissed when push cam to shove and a horrible solution was pushed through despite them. If they would have come to the table earlier, they could have at least gotten something for their concessions. Instead they got their azz handed to them and rather than looking in the mirror and admitting that they fvcked that one up, they're blaming Boehner.

If the Dems are going to load up every relief bill with pork, they should all be voted down.

Obama was unwilling to make any concessions. What makes you think he would have given the Tea Party any concessions if they had just come to the table earlier? What makes you think they could have even come to the table earlier? Obama was off in fucking Hawaii when all of this shit started.

So what that Obama was in Hawaii? Being president is a stressful job and they're available 24/7 if needed. I had no problem with Dubya spending a lot of time in Crawfordsville and I have no problem with Obama taking a vacation.

Boehner tried to negotiate that taxes would go up on people making $1M+ and the tea party pulled the rug out from under him. It's pure speculation, but if they hadn't we might have ended up at $500K+ and gotten some spending reductions in return. But the game of brinkmanship failed and IMO they ended up with a worse bill than they could have gotten if they would have negotiated in good faith.

Repairs are done in the Norfolk Harbor (straight back along Elizabeth River past ODU which is on the left) and in Newport News which is behind the camera. Ship building is done in Newport News.

Chris Christie should personally invite those 37 to come to the Jersey Shore for a day of service. It'd be a good idea to come since he'll be our President in about 4 years and 2 weeks.
