Mt Jack, kem has no interest in facts. Think of all the other useful things you could have done with the time wasted in that post.

You're right, Bball is not the big deal at UM; don't think it was posted that it was. They get 3500, not the 6000 or 7000 like in the hayday. But never 600 even during break in spite of limited population here on the frontier. My point is not intended as smack; it begs the question - how can you sustain programs that draw four figures for FB and three figures for Bball? The expenses are nowhere near offset with revenue, particularly with Title IX. It's a serious problem in the BSC. We went to Greeley for the Montana game this year; it was UNC's homecoming. 4700.mtjack wrote:Haven't bantered in a while, Kemajic. Montana and Montana State are the only schools in this conference with absolutely no local competition for sports interest/support/money. MSU and UM compete with nothing bigger collegiate sports wise in Montana and have a one state buffer on each side (Idaho, Wyoming and North Dakota) away from BCS collegiate or pro sports. U of M and MSU's situation are unlike the rest of the teams in the Big Sky. North Dakota competes with all the MN pro sports and U of Minnesota. Sacramento State probably has more to compete with attention wise than any other Big Sky schools. Portland State competes with the Pac 12 schools and local/Northwest pro teams and the list goes on and on for every other team in the Big Sky outside of the Treasure State. I've walked around Cedar City three times and noticed that the bulk of shirts I saw were Utah, BYU or Utah Jazz...not SUU Thunderbirds gear. Dbackjon said NAU's playing third banana but I'd go as far as to say they're lower than that on the totem pole. NAU competes vs. the Suns, Dbacks and Cardinals for attention and money as well as ASU and UofA.
I will give your Griz football program support its due, Kemajic. They are there thick or thin. But if the Griz faithful are such great hoops fans then why the deuce isn't Dahlberg selling out every home basketball game?
Enlighten the rest of us Big Sky conference peons....please.
