I only keep #8 shot around the house for shooting clays in the back pasture and they'll work fine for home defense at short range and are less likely to damage bystanders in other rooms.

CAA Flagship wrote: That does not address the issue of being able to fire off more rounds in a shorter period of time. The argument that the anti-gun crowd will use is that there is a possibility of less people getting shot if you are limited in the number of rounds you can fire off in a given time. What is the counter to this?
My answer is this...with a little practice and a commonly available pouch like a messenger bag, I can pack about 20 five round magazines..

When I open fire, everyone ducks...I fire 5 rounds...in the time you realize I have stopped to reload, I have completed my reload and I'm either firing again or I waiting for you to pop your head up and give me a target...

I'm willing to prove this to you...SAFELY... If you want to see it...

Limiting magazine size will have little to no effect...

:coffee:
This. I'm actually a piss poor shot, and I'm confident that I could keep a group of individuals pinned down for hours with my bolt action if I had enough magazines conveniently within reach and a good vantage point.

I say I'm a piss poor shot, but I've never missed a target I've gotten in my crosshairs. I can get 100%on paper with my old lever action thudy thudy with iron sights, so I'm no slouch.

You are talking about eliminating hunting and gun sports from our culture. Wow. That there are people who consider this even remotely acceptable shakes me. I'm no revolutionary. But I won't be registering my guns. No way, no how. And I know some folks that skirt the edge of being revolutionaries that are ready to go to ground and actively resist any sort of registry/confiscation process. People I know personally, who are former special forces types, that have been stockpiling weapons and ammo for years and years in anticipation of this very sort of thing. There will be bloodshed, and potentially lots of it. :tothehand:
Care to pm me their names and addresses so I can forward them on to my liberal friends at the Dep. of Justice, FBI, ATF, and U.N.? ;)

Seriously...it's a Daily Kos article and really should be taken about as seriously as an Onion piece (which, BTW Baldy, can be very funny to those with a sense of humor :kisswink: ).

The amount of law enforcement alone who support gun rights would make this coup nearly impossible. I get the slippery slope stuff and agree we should be mindful of it, but I think we might be getting a little over the top here.
I know. It'll never see the light of day. But seriously, there are guys who are already locked and loaded and ready to go to war. It's irresponsible to talk like this. It just feeds their paranoia.

As to not knowing what they are doing, like I said, most of the "out there" guys I'm referring to are very capable of killing you without you ever seeing them. Theyre all ex military, SLED, etc. And they all live very lightly. They could be gone in a couple of hours. It's kinda of big around here. I'm sure it's even worse out west. These guys aren't going to surrender their weapons or submit to a registry of any kind.

Me? I'll just put my guns in my safe, keep my nose clean, and go about my life. But I won't be registering anything. I own enough and am associated with enough properties that are tied up in LLC's and blind partnerships that I could hide anything I want from anyone I want to. And I'm one of many. All my guns have been private transfers, so there's no paper trail. I don't own anything that would fall under the bans, but if I do ever buy anything, it'll be a private transaction. No need for the govt to get involved. :coffee:

I can get a 20 round drum for my tactical 12ga and load it with BB shot. Col hogan, with a backpack full of 7-8 of those and a few smoke grenades, how many folks could I kill in less than 20-30 minutes? This bill ban shotguns? :suspicious:

That's what I thought. So short of banning all guns, manufactured, new purchases, and currently owned, and then being able to enforce that ban, there is no way to keep a dedicated nutcase from killing large numbers of people. I'd go so far as to say that the guys so far have been relative underachievers. :coffee:

And pussies...all but two offed themselves at the first sign of armed resistance...either by cops or an armed citizen...

People are starting to get it...

"Suddenly, the gun banners had to argue two ridiculous positions. The first was that allowing trained educators or police having weapons in schools is a danger. The problem is that people generally like and trust teachers and cops. The second position was even worse, that armed personnel or police are somehow utterly useless against untrained, amateur creeps who seek to confront six-year olds. All over America, millions of parents noted how none of the wealthy gun banners were disbanding their personal security teams and thought, “You know, I think I’d like having a cop around my kid too.”

That I can agree with. I also agree that all these extremists, and some people that at this point aren't considered extremists, are law abiding citizens. There is a portion of this country, and they are in the leadership of the party to the left, that is ready to make these folks criminals with the stroke of a pen. Most are like me and will quietly disobey if that happens. But there will be blood if they start confiscating guns.

I realize this will most likely never happen, just as the nuts on the other side won't ever overturn Roe v Wade, but I believe they would if they could. And again, it's not the fringe of the party, it's their leadership. I can see Pelosi, Reed, and Feinstein now at the press conference striking the match to light the bonfire to burn the first pile of guns, celebrating their victory.

This is why I'm an independent. The leadership in both parties are fucked up. But I will say this, I think most Repubs cater to the religious wing to keep they're vote, but they don't necessarily truly believe. Feinstein, on the other hand, wrote this bill from the heart. In fact, I have a feeling, she pulled back a little so it wouldn't be too extreme.

I don't think the brown people are allowed in gun shops. You might be forced to call your "cousin" and get one.
I'm sure I can find a "cousin" in Mexico that could get me all the guns I wanted with no restrictions. They would probably come with a letter of authenticity signed by Obama and Holder. :coffee:

A gun buyback program in Los Angeles has seen over 10,000 guns turned into police since 2009. This week two rocket propelled grenade launchers were turned in. They are American made, but nothing is known about who turned them in or where they came from because the program is no questions asked.

Simply cannot be done by any other means than buy back. It couldn't be done if you pulled every cop in the USA off their beat and sent them out. 200,000,000 is a very large number.

What's funny is over that same time frame approximately 1.5 million million guns have been sold in the state of California. :thumb: :thumb:

The leadership in both parties are **** up. But I will say this, I think most Repubs cater to the religious wing to keep they're vote, but they don't necessarily truly believe. Feinstein, on the other hand, wrote this bill from the heart. In fact, I have a feeling, she pulled back a little so it wouldn't be too extreme.

300,000,000, about the # of guns in private ownership in the US, is even bigger.

That pic isn't of a grenade launcher. It is an AT-4, a light anti tank weapon.
It also isn't made in the US. It is made in Sweden.
