What is Stern's beef with this franchise??
Glen Taylors under the table deal with Joe Smith. He ruined the NBA in Minnesota. They had built up a great following and when this came out, Stern decided to punish the fans instead of the owner by taking 5 years worth of #1 picks away, instead of a fine.

T-Wolves owner and Joe Smith had a secret deal. I guess they were fined 3.5 Mil. The 5 years worth of draft picks pretty much killed the fan interest in the NBA in the upper midwest, due to the Wolves not having a team worth watching once Garnett left, and it kept the Wolves from helping Garnett's teams thru the draft.

Um, Stern was around when Bird first entered the league. He just wasn't the commissioner.

T-Wolves halt the OKC winning streak at 12. Rookie of the Year candidate Alexi Shved adds 12 points, 12 assists and 7 rebounds, Love with 28 pts & 11 rebounds with 7 assists, and the Godfather Nikola Pekovich gets 24 points and 10 rebounds.

The Wolves proved the Thunder really are human after all.

Alexey Shved has no business in the ROY discussion. :tothehand:

It's Damian Lillard and then everyone else.

Yes it is Lillard at this point, but Shved is a candidate.

If Lillard wins he will be the first player from a small school to take home the honor. Before the season started of course everyone felt Anthony Davis would take this award in his sleep.I think the last person from a small school to win ROY honors was possibly Earl Monroe when he left Winston Salem State in the 60s.

Only because he is a rookie. 10 and 4 is not nearly close to good enough to be a serious top 5 candidate, IMO.

He's a top 5 candidate, NBA.com has him having climbed to #3 behind Lillard and Davis. A lot of the coaches that I've heard on the T-Wolves broadcast like him.
NBA.com
Shved has been quiet in the last two games in the scoring column (five points total on 2-for-15 shooting), but he continues to be a great facilitator. The Russian rookie matched his career high with eight assists in Tuesday's loss in Miami and is averaging 6.4 apg in his last five games. With Ricky Rubio back and increasing his minutes, Shved will need to hit those outside shots at a higher clip (1-for-10 in last two losses) if the Wolves hope to stay in the playoff hung

The Knicks won a nailbiter over Phoenix 99-97 thanks to some last second heroics courtesy of JR Smith hitting the game winning basket.Too bad I can't say the same for the Nets they lost to the Bucks 108-93.I think they need an infusion of more team speed.

Had to chuckle last night, the ESPN report stated that the Timberwovles defeated a short-handed Spurs team. The Wolves are playing without their starting Center, Power Forward, Small Forward, shooting guard. Nice Triple-Double by Rubio though.
