I don't disagree with that. I'm just willing to accept it in trade for what I think will result in an increase in safety.
Alcohol kills people and hurts children (both physically and mentally).

Let me know when you want to ban alcohol.

Just because you THINK it won't happen, doesn't mean that it CAN'T happen.

I would own an AR-15 so I can be familiar with the platform, how it handles, how it loads, how to clean and service it, how to clear a jammed round, etc. Just so if there is a situation where I would be handed one, I would know WTF I'm doing with it.

When was the last time someone used alcohol to kill 20 elementary school kids?

You guys keep telling yourselves that guns are "like _______". You haven't even gotten close.

How about this one......grenades can be used to protect us paranoid citizens against the evil government. We should be able to keep as many grenades as we want. After all, you never know when Obama is gonna turn those tanks on us. Let me know when you want o allow free ownership of grenades. :dunce:

You CAN buy grenades. It's just not "free".

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Can_civilians_buy_grenades

And there isn't "free ownership" of guns either. There's a process you have to go through to purchase one.

Buying a gun isn't like buying a soda and a bag of chips. 99% of gun owners go about it the right way. Should they all be forced to NOT have a gun they want if they go through the process correctly?

20 elementary school kids? Whew...that's a lot. Then again...

Alcohol causes nearly 4 percent of deaths worldwide, more than AIDS, tuberculosis or violence, the World Health Organization warned on Friday.
Approximately 2.5 million people die each year from alcohol related causes, the WHO said in its "Global Status Report on Alcohol and Health."

"The harmful use of alcohol is especially fatal for younger age groups and alcohol is the world's leading risk factor for death among males aged 15-59," the report found.

Oh, but you were focused on children. Well then...

The link between parents drinking alcohol and their children suffering abuse is unmistakable. More than 76 million people worldwide abuse alcohol, explains GreenFacts.org. Fourteen million of them live in the USA and 6.6 million American children grow up in alcoholic households, according to Alcohol-Information.com. More than a million children are victims of child abuse each year, and alcohol is a major factor in nine of every ten cases. Two in five abusive parents are alcoholics.

The National Association for Children of Alcoholics estimates that more than 11 million American children younger than 18 live in homes directly affected by alcoholism.

According to AllPsych Online, children exposed to chronic alcoholism are prone to feeling helpless, more anxious and experiencing bouts of depression. The National Association for Children of Alcoholics notes that children have lower self-esteem in adolescence and exhibit anxiety symptoms such as obsessive-compulsive disorder, hoarding or phobias. Health care costs for children of alcoholics is 32 percent higher than children from non-alcoholic homes.

Hey, I can continue to post links that provide facts about alcohol's negative impact on more than 20 children...but you will just find a way to justify that you want to drink.

Responsibly, of course.

So, if its one at a time over a period of months, it's OK?

But 20 at one time and the world suddenly is much more dangerous???

Dane, your sense of outrage befuddles me...

More than 20 black children have been killed in Chicago over the past 12 months, and you never once demanded action...

Ina post above, alcohol is shown to be more dangerous than bullets to children, but you aren't demanding we restrict adult rights to access alcohol...

You admit in that you want to restrict Constitutional rights....

What gives???

Makes sense in bear country. Not much worry around here unless you go to west Texas where there are some smaller bears and mountain lions.

No, it doesn't. Way too small. :coffee:

.308
.300 WSM
.300 SAUM
.458
.300 Savage
.35 Remington
.358 Win
.257 Roberts
.270
.284

No, fuck them. They refuse to listen to any argument that doesn't ride the rail with their fucked up theology. I used to think a few posters were better people then they have turned out to be in the last few days. Bunch of fucking weak minded sheep.

Stay away from the WSM in .300...just a little FYI. You don't want to get into that mess of problems.

A friend looked into either the WSM or the SAUM, and after talking with me and a few others he went with the SAUM, and loves it more every time he pulls the trigger.

Those that hunt with it, in states that allow it, should use a real hunting gun a not an AR-15. Family protection? A pistol or shotgun is just as effective.

I just don't see the need for them and why its a big deal to ban them.

Though one could argue that banning them before didn't stop other gunbs from being used in Columbine or other mass shootings.
Get rid of AR15 in the military then I will agree with your ban.

I want the guns they have, if they dont have them then I dont need them.

C'mon man. That's intellectual laziness. The vast benefits provided by motor vehicles in our society greatly outweigh the danger they pose. Despite that great benefit we still have pretty strict limits on automobile use. Size, weight, speed, etc.

Can you identify a benefit of large capacity magazine as great as the benefit of automobiles?

If not, it's apples and oranges in my mind.

Well you are wrong as fu*k when it comes to the auto argument because you cannot give me one LEGITIMATE reason why you should have to drive a car when there are many other options available.

Bicycles
Horses
Trains
Skateboards
Walking
Roller blades

I question your use of such a dangerous weapon like a 4000lb car when you dont really need one.
