Cry me a river douchebags. You can't debate the facts so you just go off.
Predictable.
I'd say have a Merry Christmas but that would imply I give a ****. Here's to the next shooting in your town since god forbid you want to do anything less than turn America into an armed camp.
I'll be telling my grandkids one day, I remember you could walk around the block & not see every other person packing.
Bite me.
Now that you have wished this tragedy on others TWICE I give you this.

Dear lord... please allow this dangerous combination of hair spary, bat slobber, and D.O.T. four automatic transmission fluid to excite my mind, occupy my spirits, and enrage my body, provoking me to kick any man or woman in the back of the head regardless of what he or she has or has not done unto me. All my Best, Earlie Cuyler.

I notice he edited his post. Thanks for quoting it before he could back pedal. So, he's a coward as well as a weak-kneed moron.
This guy is a piece of work. First here preaches to us about how we don't care, then wishes tragedy upon us.

Train and arm existing school staff. Not all school staff, but enough to be able to get quick access to all parts of a school and back each other up in an emergency.
Educate people about mental illness. Discourage people who are raising socially inept children from owning a cache of guns and allowing those children to have access to those guns.
Screen gun buyers for a history of mental illness. If we need to change doctor/patient confidentiality laws then so be it. If a doctor is treating a patient that he thinks might be potentially dangerous then the doctor needs to be able to "red flag" that patient.
Banning guns sounds great, but I don't think it will work and may not be constitutional.
From a political perspective, this is the most tone-deaf press conference (though he didn't take questions) I have heard perhaps ever. I listened to the entire thing (was driving from KC to the Twin Towns) and I could not believe my ears.
1. In Wayne LaPierre's world it's still 20 years ago... seriously - music videos??? WTF?
2. He seriously just called for putting MORE guns in schools as a solution to spree killings and refused to move one iota on COMMON SENSE gun legislation.
This may be good for a short term boost to their fundraising, but this is (like so much of what the right in this country has been doing) careening toward extremism and is a long-term road to nowhere for them. Standing for such completely extreme positions politically neuters them. They had 20 years of OWNING this issue and in one week they have managed to isolate themselves thoroughly.
The smarter thing, though it would have pissed off their fringe base - would have been to come out in favor of closing the gun show loophole or supporting limits to clip size... just pick one. show some common sense and humanity - instead, they chose to hew to the fringe.

The idiots on both extremes control the dialogue in this country. Rational discussion is too boring for the news.

I don't think any elementary school kids are going to over power any teachers/principals. 60%-70% of the schools in this country are probably elementary schools (kindergarten- 4th or 5th grade). They could have the option of allowing a principal or teacher to be armed or pay for an armed guard. That brave principal reportedly tried to disarm him with her bare hands. Imagine if she had been armed. Might be 27 people in Newton who weren't killed.
As far as the middle & high schools, they could have either an armed guard or a police officer. A good chunk of the public high schools in this country ALREADY have armed police officers (school resource officers).

I love it when someone claims the moral high ground only to later prove that not only are they just as "evil and despicable" as they claim the other side to be, but also expel a level of douchebaggery that is almost equal to their hypocrisy.
And they themselves fail to see this because they have the so-called "moral high-ground"

I didn't see it, but Twitter was very active calling it a sideshow today, saying the NRA flopped miserably.
NRA could say just about ANYTHING and those people would say they "flopped miserably".
If LaPierre is trying to rally his supporters, then he probably did okay.
If he is trying to win a war of public opinion he probably flopped, although the media and the dems might out flop him - in which case he probably did okay in that area as well.
I didn't mind his message, I wasn't thrilled by his delivery. Maybe it is still to soon IMHO.

Substations or a room to do paperwork or take breaks Mon-Fri during school hrs. Wouldn't be there 100% of the time but a good chunk or it where having their vehicle parked right at the entrance would act as a deterrent.

Seems like a lot of carnage can happen without an "assault weapon".
Would an armed guard in schools help? It couldn't hurt. Will an armed guard stop this every time? Nope (see Columbine).
And Cho used 2 handguns to kill 32 people at Virginia Tech....

It only takes seconds to reload a handgun. Probably faster than an "assault rifle".

Question: Hand guns. Why the name? Is there a footgun?

Asian people...am I right?
Why is there a "toothbrush" as opposed to teethbrush?

That's an easy one. It was invented in Statesboro, GA.

That's one view, another view is it would get more kids killed every year.
There were over half a million episodes of reported teacher-student incidents in America just in 2011!!
So the NRA and gun supporters say we just give teachers or the principal guns and then...
-Teacher claims self-defense during conflict with an unarmed student and shoots them
-Another teacher/principal steps into incident and shoots kid
-Teacher/principal takes out gun during an incident and is overpowered by another student & people get shot

You think in over 500K documented cases per year, not counting who knows how many "undocumented cases" that these outcomes and many other tragic ones aren't going to occur? Not a chance.
such utter bullshit. i hate the argument: "well if they had guns they would would start shooting people." people all over use concealed carry. do you ever hear of a shooting in utah? well guess what: students and teachers are allowed to carry there. obviously its different with an elementary school. lets keep these schools gun free. it's clearly working...

Because the forum mirrors real life. Uninformed person brings up gripe. Logical person gives them answer they don't like. Now informed person adds new twist to original gripe to see if new twist will strengthen their position. They get skewered again. Rinse. Repeat. Also sodomy.
