All this arguing about guns is just a side-show. China just went through a spate of attacks on elementary schools and deranged lunatics managed to kill children as young as 4 years old with nothing more than hammers, knifes, box cutters, axes, and a cleaver in at least 5 different incidents in the past two years. Deranged people can do heinous things and guns are just one more weapon they can carry. It's no less of a tragedy if a person kills 10 little children with a knife but someone else kills 18 with a gun. Just one kid dying like this is utterly heartbreaking and tragic.

IMO, you have to ask yourself what is it about America that makes this a country where you see more crap like this happen and where, in other areas, we're so reckless as well. Like someone else said, Switzerland has guns up to their ears but you would have to look hard over decades to find something like what just happened today here. On the political/banking front, many developed, industrial, first world countries have found ways to let banks be commercial and investment banks (the whole Glass Steagall controversy) without helping the world usher in a painful recession, yet when we do it here we do a significant part in crapping the world economy.

And it's people from all walks of life, from both sides of the political spectrum (neither Donk or Conk has a monopoly on deranged whackos). What is it about America that we end up fostering such blantant recklessness across so many aspects of society?

If not, get another job.

Our kids need to be protected in the present tense not after the fact like when the cops show up dozens of minutes later when its over.

Education is the key so lets get these PUBLIC SCHOOL teachers leading the way.
Absolutely not. That would place more guns in schools where theoretically, the kids could get them. Plus, when you have a gun, you are obviously more likely to use it and there would definitely be an uptick in school shootings because of teachers having stupid arguments, not getting a raise, or being fired.

Simply place an armed cop in all public schools and that should deter most.

If teen pregnancy is a problem.....the left wants education and sex ed classes to stop it.
If bullying is a problem the left wants education and anti bullying classes in schools to stop it.

So obviously education is the answer, we need all students to be required to attend gun safety classes and shooting classes. Same goes for teachers.

As for your straw man argument "it just puts more guns in schools" good. I hope so and there needs to be UNTIL there is enough evidence from these mythical scenarios you guys dream up about a gun being stolen or a teacher going ballistic.

Until that is proven and not just a stupid scenario drummed up by the left I call bullshit.

I get it....it doesn't matter how much psych testing, fingerprinting, background checking, etc. you do people like this will still manage to get weapons if they want them badly enough. The local and state governments don't have the resources to do in depth pre-purchase qualifications for people they deem "worthy" of gun ownership. It did spook me at how easily I could buy one in SC - a quick call by the dealer to Columbia to be sure I wasn't a felon, then hand over the cash. The entire transaction took about 8 minutes.
Why does that "spook" you?

No, not at all. Unless, of course, he is a Lib, in which case he sure as hell led the way down the rabbit hole for this guy.

Back to reality...sort of.

I just thought that scene was very disturbing and it led me to think what it would have taken for me to do such an act. I'm sure I'm not the only one to have tried to figure out the hatred involved in that act, and as a father of a young boy, I could not imagine anything that would allow me to hurt my family or children in any way.

However, after seeing an article about a young Muslin (how am I doing, Cappy) suicide bomber, I then asked myself if I could kill a child that I thought was a threat (in this case, I imagined a young boy with a bomb that was walking into a classroom full of kids) and I answered yes. I would do it to protect other innocent children.

So, one would have to imagine the kids as enemies of some sort. I have no idea about whatever was in the mind of the nut job who shot those kids today, but he had to somehow picture those kids as not being innocent. Surely, there was a mesage being sent...but we may never figure it out.

I understand why a person would want a handgun for "personal protection", problem. I understand why a person may wish to have access to guns to shoot at a range or to hunt animals like deer, etc.

I completely disagree with the premise that a non-military or non-law enforcement person be allowed to own or possess "automatic weapons" or "assault rifles".
This is why you are so ill informed. One cannot own an automatic weapon or assualt weapon, pretty much the same thing, without special permits and background checks and yearly checks...being that they are either full auto, or have selector switches for semi/3 round burst.

God damn it pisses me off to no end when one of your ilk or some dummie on the news says assault rifle when it is just a god damned ar 15 or something similar.
Grizzaholic, you can't argue with with the ignorance of people like bilk and the masses who are spoon fed by the equally ignorant media when it comes to these things.
