Rob Parker shows his ignorance yet again

Post by DSUrocks07 »

http://www.awfulannouncing.com/2012-art ... iance.html
In all of the debatable moments in the history of First Take, this is one of the most debatable. Weekend First Take "star" Rob Parker offered bizarre commentary about Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III that is unbelievable even by Rob Parker's standards. It all started because of a First Take debate on quotes RGIII gave USA Today about not having to be defined by his race.

Parker began the discussion on RGIII's comments and floated the question asking if RGIII was "a brother or a cornball brother." Parker then threw out speculation and questioned RGIII for being a Republican and having a white fiance. After a question from Skip Bayless, Parker then affirmed RGIII was a "brother" because he wore braids. Stephen A. Smith came on directly after Parker and appeared as the voice of reason, saying "I'm uncomfortable with where we just went. RGIII, the ethnicity, the color of his fiance is none of our business, it's irrelevant, he can live his life any way he chooses... I don't judge someone's blackness based on those types of things."

Stephen A. Smith as the "voice of reason"?!?

If that's where ESPN is heading, turn it off NOW. They made a HUGE mistake when they let Dana Jacobson get away from Cold Pizza/First Take....

I'm calling bullshit. You were never a slave. Your parents and Grandparents were never slaves. You live in one of the greatest countries and have many avenues of success offered to you. This has nothing to do with white people. Slavery ended 147 years ago. GET OVER IT! You don't see Native Americans still bitching about the Trail of Tears or ANY OTHER IMMIGRANT GROUP bitching about the mistreatment of their people in the 1800's.

As soon as you get out of this victim mindset, then MAYBE, race relations can improve. I'll be frank, you want to know why white people roll their eyes at people like you and never take you seriously? It's because people like you perpetuate the culture and idea that blacks are still victims of white slave masters and you guys are exempt from any responsibility wheather it be for your actions, lack of education, lack of ambition, etc.... Stop harping on the past, stop gauging the "blackness" of your fellow man, stop the gratuitous use of "ni&&er" and the MAYBE in a generation or two, race relations can be were they should be. It's the 21st century. GET OVER IT!

I charge you to find one interview or case where a white guy challenges the "whiteness" of another. Or an Indian challenges the "Native American-ness" of another, etc... You won't.

Um, slavery did NOT end 147 years ago. The legal INSTUTION of American slavery did, but slavery still exists around the world, and there are people of EVERY racial and ethnic persuasion caught up in it, Mark.

Additionally, have you forgotten about the unfortunate indentured servitude contracts that got many white people over to what because the good ol' USA? Not much removed from slavery, though they usually got what were considered cushy "house" jobs as opposed to field labor jobs. No wages (or very low wages), and a supposedly time-limited contract that could be extended at an owner's whim. Yes, white people dealt with the trash, too.

Really? Because large numbers of people are told constantly in this country that THEY don't have a right to THEIR own opinion because the PC motherfuckers in this country "don't agree with it". :tothehand:

I'm obviously talking about American slavery as that is what Dal is referring to. Slavery was abolished 147 years ago in America via the 13th Amendment. Dal is not talking about sex slaves in the Ukraine or human trafficking into Mexico he is talking about Africans being enslaved. Africans that he is suggesting that are his ancestors. However, indentured servitude was 95% of the time VOLUNTARY! Let me break it down for you:

Indentured Servant: These people were I.S. because they were repaying a debt like payment for travelling to the New World or payments owed. Now, some were kidnapped and shipped like slaves, however after these servants were freed easier than African slaves. Also, look at the trends. Indentured Servitude was very very small by the time the American Revolution began. An example of this would the stereotypical poor English, French, German person that wanted to go to the New World but couldn't afford it during the 17th and 18th Century. Ben Franklin and President Andrew Johnson were indentured servants. Just to be clear, i'm only talking about AMERICA. Not Australia, Russia, Africa, etc... Just the USA.

Slavery: These slaves were kidnapped (usually sold by other Africans) and shipped to various countries. They were only freed if the master freed them but they were forced to work forever. An example of this would the countless slaves that came over to America in the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries.

You fail to comprehend anything, anyone ever writes and it gets on my damn nerves. This is like last week when you went on a tirade against the Army in WW2 only to admit that you didn't read the word "football" in my post. Actually, I know money is tight so here:
