GSU gets passed on by teams that run the spread with five or six receivers running routes all over the place. GSU tends to blitz, which opens the middle of the field for pass completions. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't see NDSU flooding the field with WR very often.Bison Fan in NW MN wrote:JohnStOnge wrote:
I agree. I think NDSU's vulnerability is in their offense. I actually like their style but it can be controlled. Anything can happen. For all we know Georgia Southern might win 50-0. Stranger things have happened and the unpredictability of college football is part of its attraction. But I sure don't EXPECT to see any FCS offense run wild on NDSU's defense, I'd expect that if NDSU does give up a lot of points it's going to be because the offense turns the ball over and either gives up defensive TDs to the other team or repeatedly puts the defense in very bad position.
Fair assessment.
If Jensen starts throwing INTs, we will lose. Giving GSU short fields will not be good. IMO, our best defense on friday will be the offense's ability to stay on the field. Keep that TO off the field.
GSU can be passed on and the Bison need to take advantage of that. A loud dome will also help.

Well....five, but it looked like they were all running routes. It gets pretty wild when they go with an empty backfield.

The Bison do have 5 WR sets but do not run it very often. NDSU has a short passing game....not really a deep threat at all.

As with most balanced offenses, our run game opens up our passing game.

Wonder if the coaches will use Crockett more this game?
He seems to have more of a 'burst' compared to Ojuri. Nice to have both of them but IMO, Crockett is a better runner. Ojuri is definitely a better pass blocker.

Crockett is unreal. I'll take him over any RB we've had in the past decade except maybe Roehl. Once he gets fully healthy he is going to be an even bigger force.Bison Fan in NW MN wrote:BisoNation wrote:As with most balanced offenses, our run game opens up our passing game.

Lamar Gordon...finished his NDSU career in 01. Still like him the best, then Roehl. Crockett hasn't done enough to justify a comparison to either one of those 2.BisoNation wrote:Crockett is unreal. Forgot about Lamar Gordon, he was the real deal as well but he's more than a decade ago. Agreed Crockett hasn't done enough yet, but he sure is fun to watch run. Has the power and quickness to be a star these next 2 years.rkwittem wrote:Lamar Gordon...finished his NDSU career in 01. Still like him the best, then Roehl.
