At this point why wouldn't they be? They aren't Montana and Cheney ain't Missoula.

And when I say they aren't Montana I'm talking program wise. Yes I know they had one good year where everything fell their way and they got a good spot to be awarded a first down on a key fourth down in the Championship game and beat Delaware. But when you talk about Southland teams having problems in Big Sky Country you're mostly talking about Montana and Missoula. And, though I'd actually be happy if Eastern Washington wins, I'm pretty sure Sam Houston State has shown at this point that them beating Eastern Washington on the road and beating them by more than five points wouldn't exactly be a surprise.

I must say that if my money is on the line and I had to bet I'd lay 5 and take Sam Houston State. It pains me to say that but that's what I'd do. I'll be thrilled if I'm wrong. Frankly I'd like to see Eastern Washington blow Sam Houston State out. But I think the opposite happening is more likely.

The GSU at NDSU pick is more difficult, I think. On one hand NDSU had no problem with GSU last year. On the other hand 9 points is a lot to lay and NDSU's offense is not overwhelming. Frankly, this is not one I'd even bet on if I could avoid it. I'm pretty confident that NDSU's defense will do a pretty good job of controlling GSU's offense in terms of moving the football. But I have no idea as to what NDSU's offense is going to do. I mean, they lost to Indiana State when their defense held the opponent's offense to 3 points and 197 total yards.

Yes that was the only loss. But that's the kind of thing that makes it hard to lay a lot of points when picking them. Sure, I'd feel pretty good about just picking them to win. But beyond that who the hell knows?

The irony of this post kills me. First, you have one of the biggest shit-talkers here ripping SHSU fans for getting more and more bold, then tops it off with a few pot-shots at Montana State, even though EWU beat them by 3 and SHSU beat them by 18.

SHSU is the real deal. I hope for your sake you don't underestimate them like I did last January. (I know NDSU won, but I didn't expect nearly that intense of a game from the Bearkats.)
