Top Rep Senator breaking from Norquist

Post by Ibanez »

Sen. Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga., broke ranks with other conservatives Wednesday when he made the remarks to a local television station. Chambliss is a member of the Gang of Six, a bipartisan group of senators tasked with finding a solution to the country's fiscal woes.

"I care more about my country than I do about a 20-year-old pledge," he told WMAZ-TV. "If we do it his way then we’ll continue in debt, and I just have a disagreement with him about that."

It's about time someone stood up to Grover. I hope more reps jump on this bandwagon.

While I agree with the Senator from Georgia, I don't hear any Democrats saying something comparable about spending cuts...

We have a spending problem, not a revenue problem...

How about changing the pledge instead of breaking it?

1. Don't raise taxes on any small business PERIOD.
2. Simplify the corporate tax code. Lower the rates and close the loopholes
3. Raising taxes on the highest earners should mean the highest earners. Don't screw over the folks with income in the low to mid six figures and let the millionaires and billionaires continue to dodge the taxes.
