My wife and I would be willing to help and make sure she continues her education but how many pregnant teens have that luxury?

I agree with that. Teenagers are not mature enough to have babies. But there is also adoption.

I would do the same with supporting her if she decided to keep it. Education is the path out of poverty.

Ya, most teens do not have that support system.
That's another thing. Adoption is too damn difficult in this country.

What you're saying is they should compromise their core principles.

On homosexuals: I don't know how to get it across to you people that nobody wants to be involved in anybody's love life. Defining marriage as being between one man and one woman isn't interfering with any homosexual's love life just like it's not interfering with the love life of someone who wants to live in a ménage à trois relationship. It's not saying anybody can't DO whatever they want to do in their love life.

It's just saying the society has set up a definition for a particular institution. And if the society does that at all some relationships will be excluded from the recognition. I know I have written that a lot because it just seems to go in one ear and out the other. And I'm sure it'll happen again this time. But good GRIEF defining marriage in a particular way is NOT interfering in anybody's love live, denying anybody liberty, or denying anybody any rights.
You're so **** ignornant. Telling Gay People they can't marry IS telling them what they can't do. Admit it John, you hate gay people. If you Republicans weren't so hateful, then you wouldhave no problem giving gay couples the same rights as straight couples. However, you believe it is wrong and therefore you are against it. You are dictating someones life. Goverment, good or bad, dictates people lives.

John is marinated in hate and he tries to disguise it with a veneer of statistics. :ohno:

Move to northern Idaho, John, where you'll be in more sympathetic company and even with a few of your cult heroes like detective Furman. :coffee:

They should not adopt the "hitch the wagon to 'the rich' and let them pull it" mentality of the Democratic Party.

I think that one problem is, in spite of the protestations of the author of the linked article, overwhelming majorities of Blacks and HIspanics really do want handouts.

The Democratic Party is the Candy Man. That gives it the advantage among disadvantaged groups. And the Republican Party should not do the wrong things....try to be Candy Man 2...in order to win those votes. If that means the Republican Party loses ground so be it. If it's going to be a Candy Man like the Democratic Party is there is really no reason for it to be in power anyway.
I think this has been brought up before but average annual spending under Obama has increased at a lower rate than Bush, Clinton, Bush, and Reagan. Yet taxes on the rich have remained low. It's a virtual conk wet dream. Slow spending, cut taxes, hop in the wagon and it's "gitty up" time for the rich! Now where are all those jobs and where's that debt reduction?

No one wants a handout John. Even the parasites on welfare dream of getting out of it.

It has been brought up on here before, and has been debunked before. The reason for the bogus claim of slower spending under Obama is because people were attributing the huge FY 09' increases to Bush, when most of FY 09' was passed after Obama came into office.

Yes I know that "hate," in the progressive lexicon, means "disagreeing with progressives."

I am a Libertarian, not a Republican. And chances are people would be more free to do what they want to do if I got my way in everything than they would be if you got your way in everything. Not certain. But I wouldn't be surprised.

And you're wrong. Saying a relationship will not be recognized as marriage is not telling anybody involved that they can't actually do what they want to do. It's just saying that OTHER PEOPLE will not recognize them as having a certain designation. Saying OTHER PEOPLE will not recognize your relationship as having a particular designation is not telling YOU you can't do what you want to do. You can live with the other person or persons. You can have sex with them. You can commit yourself to them for life and they can commit themselves to you. You can even consider yourselves married if you want to. It's just that OTHER PEOPLE will not say you are "married."

Thanks. I assumed they were correct in saying the FY 09 increase was attributable to Bush. But you may be interested in looking at my post on the percent increase trick earlier in this thread. That's another thing they did.

You hate gay people, blacks, anyone who is different from you. You were born too late, and in the wrong country. You would have done well in Germany during the 1930's.

I do hate certain things. Like I hate the way our culture sacrifices objectivity at the altar of egalitarianism.

But pointing reality out in terms of statistics is not hate. As long as you do it objectively and fairly, which I do, it's just the truth. And if you think there has been a case in which I have not presented statistics objectively and fairly, feel free to let me know. I will always consider the feedback. But I do not believe in "lying with statistics" and I do not attempt to do that.

Many times the truth is called "hate" because the truth does not always coincide with some cherished egalitarian tenets. Or I might say it does not coincide with some cherished liberal or progressive tenets. Or whatever the people who I'm talking about choose to call themselves.

And as disturbing as son of what JSO writes is, there is a certain level of truth to it. Same goes for houndawg. There is a reckoning coming for the U.S. soon. It's actually kinda scary if you look at it too long. And it isn't some far off doom that will take a couple of generations to play out. It is here. As much as docks would like to think that the vote was some sort of mandate for their agenda, and as much as the conks want to ring there hands and are confused over how they could have lost to the Muslim Negro, the vote was separated by less than the population of Metro Atlanta. Close to half liked him, and close to half didn't. And for quite a few of those on both sides there seems to be a visceral dislike/disrespect for one another. There is aa air of tension that seems to be building to a fevered pitch. And the sad part is that when it boils over the reasonable people in the middle like me, Kalm, and a few other posters on here will be even less able to find a perch to land on.
