Thing is, it doesn't seem like the market is even connected to the real world these days. Europe is in something akin to a death spiral, China is slamming the brakes on its economy, and saying our own economy is crawling forward is heavily optimistic. Of the top 10 countries in life span, only 3 are in Europe. The US is in the top 10 for standard of living. But I guess you like the European model of high taxation and less work. That is why these countries (Greece-Spain-Portugal-Cyprus...others) have such social unrest.....people want their entitlements even though their governments cannot afford them.
