My republican friends going full retard

Post by griz37 »

Not surprisingly Obama's win is not going over real well in Montana. I have several friends on Facebook, one a really good friend, who I have always considered professional, well-balanced, intelligent people. This morning they are either warning everyone to stock up on food, ammo & water because the end of is near. Or begging everyone to pray to "Almighty God" that he step in & change our "situation". I didn't even vote for Obama but I find this stuff pathetic.

Yeah it's pretty entertaining.

I read from a "businessman" friend that said "well I guess we won't start up that new business now. This will be the end of entrepreneurs."

Hey, it's a 2 part (or more) thing. The numbers have to work, and you have to have some degree of certainty in the economy going forward. Do you think that people thinking about starting new businesses can put a check in both of those boxes at this point in time?

It depends on the type of business, the demand, and capitalization. But the funny part is the assumption that if Mitt had won the uncertainty would have been whooshed away!

Sure they "can". But do you think they will? Would you put up the colateral needed these days to get the loan to start a business? Huge risk IMO.

Plenty of small businesses will succeed. Plenty will fail, just like always.

Absolutely correct. But I think a some of the uncertainty would have disappeared. Businesses are screaming that there is too much uncertainity out there to make any moves right now. The Repubs would focus on clearing up that uncertainty. The Dems don't seem to care. Hence, the slow growth.

That is not the issue. It is the rate of startup attempts that will matter. The success rate probably will not change much, like you implied. But the numbers will be down.
Not that this is completely the BHO Admin's cause. The difficulty getting loans due to the financial crisis has a lot to do with this too.

Where do you live and why is it so difficult to get a loan?

Have you applied for one recently?

Downside to Romney's failure here is now we will never see that magic plan for everything wrong with America that he promised to show us when he was elected.

What a shame. :ohno:

D,
No I have not applied for a loan recently. But you can't tell me that it is easier now than it was some 5 or 6 years ago. More liquid colateral is necessary. Higher credit ratings are necessary.
I'm not saying it can't be done, I'm just saying it is more difficult.
This, coupled with the regulatory uncertainty (most companies are still trying to determine the cost impact of Obamacare), the economic engine is in 1st gear.

Both
I don't have a clue on what they would end up doing, but they would clearly focus on it to determine what options they had to get this economy moving.
The repeal of Obamacare, or at least a postponing of or revision to, would be on the table for discussion if companies can clearly show the burden they claim is there.

True.
A necessary evil has occurred (tightened loan qualifications). But an uncertain regulatory climate going forward, coupled with the lending environment, is not conducive to strong growth.

Obamacare.
Compliance requirements on banking institutions (this is a huge burden on small banks as I understand it).
Payroll taxes.

That's actually a form of narcissism...
Similar to the delusion that God is transfixed on your individual behavior because you're so important

Here's the real point:
Each of us wake up everyday with an opportunity
and it's virtually the same opportunity in this country
And some guy in a White house thousands of miles away does not have more to do with what you accomplish in that day than you do - we each have our hands on our own steering wheel and can go out and make our life exactly what we want our life to be...
Mitt or Barry have virtually zero effect on ones personal success
or ones ability to experience happiness

Note:
Over 5,000 people voted for Jill Stein in this state (I find that pretty cool)

:kisswink:

Now we get to see Obama's magic plan that he opted to withhold in his first term. Hope and change baby, and it's Bush's fault all the way to 2016!!!!!! :coffee:
