I expect that they will. Christie won't be the etch-a-sketch guy that is required to survive the GOP primary mine field.
Both parties have issues with their primaries requiring their candidates to take weird positions before changing them in the general elections. One of the reasons why incumbents rarely lose in their re-election bids (only two Presidents have lost their re-election elections since FDR) is that they don't need to run through the primaries. 2016 will see both parties have to come up with a candidate through a primary system.

But from the GOP standpoint, it's hard to see them fading away like some people are insinuating. Right now they are losing Presidential races because of their backwards approach to social issues - gay rights, women's rights, and immigration. However, as time moves on, things like those aren't going to be sharp issues anymore - the old people who don't budge on those matters will be gone, and young people coming forward, in both parties, are less and less divided on those issues. There will always be two parties in this country, and the GOP won't always be at the disadvantage they are today on social issues. And heck, it was pretty quick in terms of time for when it went from an advantage to a disadvantage. It'll turn back pretty quickly as these issues become more widely accepted and not as divisive as they've been.

I don't see a President Hillary choosing Joe to be her Vice President, so it all depends on Christie keeping that streak alive. And is the Vice President's house on PA avenue? I thought it was on Observatory Circle?

Right now this is a much larger problem with the GOP than it is with the Dems. No doubt that will change over time, but I'm not sure it changes by 2016.

Meant to be a joke, but probably true. I think being President ages you. Romney may live a longer life by losing.

It put a ton of age on Dubya, but he looks like a pretty content dude now, and I'm not sure Jimmy Carter is ever going to croak.

So much for the folks predicting the enthusiasm for Obama was way down from 2008.

Youth vote and black vote up over 2008.

Not sure anybody should be surprised here, however I did think it would be a little closer. Any final results on Congress? Repubs gain any ground or did they shit the bed there too?

The Rs know that the Hispanic vote could make them the majority party forever but they'd rather lose with racists than win with the future of the country.

So what is the 'future' for immigration then houndawg? Let anyone and everyone come here without any kind of restriction? "Take them all....we can take care of everyone." Increase the top tax rates to 70 - 80 or even pre-Kennedy era rates of over 90% because "the rich do not pay their fair share".....

You think that's the only immigration alternative? :ohno:

Good idea on the top tax rates though! But I reckon you're probably too young to remember those days when the USA had the world's highest-ever standard of living.

What's the answer? You never answered the question.

I'm sure you think a 100% tax rate is what it should be. Hell, we might as well not work in your 'utopia' cus the gov can take care of all of our needs.

Hell, I should fold-up my small business that employs 18 people because the gov can do a better job of taking care of me....oh, and run the business into the ground....right.
