Saw on CNN that Romney was leading the polling for the independent vote 59% to 37%.
That is nationally, so state by state may be different.

I think Obama loses. And here is why.
As it stands, with "safe states" it's 237-206 in favor of Obama.

Now, toss ups.

FLorida - voted Republican 3/5 past presidential elections. Voted Dem. in 1996 and 2008
North Carolina- voted Republican 4/5. Voted Democrat in 2008
Colorado - voted Republican 3/5, voted Dem in 1992 and 2008
Virginia -voted Republican 4/5. Voted Democrat in 2008

If Romney takes the above mentioned, he goes to to 257.

O-243
R-257

Nevada goes Obama, in the past 5 it voted Rep twice in 2000 and 2004
Iowa goes Obama, in the past 5 it voted Rep once in 2004.
Wisconsin goes Obama, it's been blue in the past 5.

O-243
R-257

Romeny takes Ohio and wins.

I think the outlier here is OHio.

I was wondering about that too and if it could be enough to swing the popular vote.

Obama will win. As usual, the people who make this country work will vote majority Republican and the parasites will vote Democrat. And there are too many parasites. Throw in a pinch of illegal voting...which always works to the Democrats favor...in a close election. Voilà! A totally unqualified individual with a completely wrong world view is President again.

Speaking of the way in which Democrats game the system:

I heard just now about how well the Obama campaign is going to be good at doing "same day" registration. You know, get people registered to vote and have them vote before anyone can tell that they're really eligible to. Then, of course, if you find out later that they weren't eligible to vote there is no way to subtract their vote from the totals because you can't be 100% sure of who they voted for.

That kind of thing. Like when I read about the Florida thing in 2000 where the big media recount determined that there were over 5,000 illegal votes and more than 70% of them were by Democrats. Of course none could be subtracted. And like when I read in that same case about a woman in Florida who said she managed to vote 11 times for Al Gore.

When you have a close election it is trouble because the Democrats will always have an edge in fraudulent, illegal voting. I can remember listening in disbelief to a radio program one time as a Democrat political consultant a and Republican political consultant discussed Mary Landrieu narrowly winning a Louisiana Senate race against Woody Jenkins. Both agreed that fraudulent voting in Orleans Parish put Landrieu over the top. But the Democrat consultant said the Republicans should have done a better job of poll watching.

Of course if they do that we get the "voter suppression" thing from Democrats. As I've said before, any effort to curtail fraudulent and/or illegal voting will draw the opposition of the Democratic Party. And that pretty much tells you which Party benefits the most from fraudulent and/or illegal voting.

He probably saw it on RealClearPolitics.com under "No Toss Up States" which gives whoever is leading in the poll (even if by 0.1%) the electoral votes. I doubt that either side gets more than 290. Its gonna be close. Obama is ripe for the picking but Romney's numerous missteps may cost him.

Do you think for one minute that if Obama gets re-elected, that he will try and reduce the deficeit?

Not renewing the Bush tax cuts will do squat for the deficeit. He is going to have to cut gov spending....period. I wonder if his left-wing base will allow that?

I think Obama gets over 300. He won't do as well as he did in 2008, but 303 is very possible. If Obama carries the same states he won in 2008 minus Florida, North Carolina and Indiana he gets 303.

An incumbent stuck at 47% in a bad economy. Not a formula for this tonic you are selling.
Same formula as 2004. Weak incumbent versus weaker challenger.

How hilarious would it be if Obama wins Florida? The election would be over at 8 PM and we wouldn't have to stay up late. And it's always good to have a JSO sighting. Even though he's a crazy mofo who types too much, he's CS.com's crazy mofo who types too much! :thumb:

I didn't vote for Obama, it's just hilarious that St Wronge thinks things will be all sunshine and roses if Mittens gets elected.

i just do not see that happening. that will likely mean romney wins ohio, florida, PA. do you really think he will garner enough votes to win the popular vote but not enough for the electoral college? yes it happened in 2000 but if romney wins the popular vote i think it is very likely wins the EC
Under this scenario I see Romney taking VA, FL, NH, and WI with Obama taking OH, PA, CO, NV, IA, & MI. If Romney carries any of the states I have listed above in the Obama column he will win the electoral vote, but I don't see him doing so. The race has tightened in the states Obama will take more so than in the ones Romney will win, giving Romney the popular vote.
romney is likely taking OH, CO, and IA. Des Moines Register endorsed him  PA is a tossup. NV and MI are likely Obama

I hope that he does take OH, CO, and IA, but I'm skeptical. I would love nothing better than to find out tonight that you are right and I am wrong.

If Romney gets elected he better get his sh** together. If Obama gets back in he needs to do the same thing. But esp for him, the gov is not meant to take care of all of our needs.

Personally, whoever gets elected, they better tackle the 'debt'.
