Ah, but does the concept of evolution not in its nature infer progress? So moral/intellectual evolution would imply a steady measurable progress in our thinking. I don't see the empirical evidence supporting your hypothesis. :suspicious:

It's been a pretty bumpy ride over the last 100,000 years. Lots of peaks and valleys. :coffee:

No, evolution does not infer progress.

It's interesting because if you do agree or at least admit it's worth debating that Evolution applies here
Then you are accepting (to some degree) that we are the guardians of this planet - by default
When you argue that "the God concept" The almighty who grants divine rights has been replaced

(slippery slope)

I'm firmly in the evolution camp. Don't get me wrong. But I'm not sure human intellect has evolved all that much. Technology? Yes, of course. But I've said it before and I'll say it again, we are not wired for the world we have fabricated around us. We are still hunter gatherers on the inside. We just force ourselves to live in the world we've created because it seems easier. Meanwhile, we are riddled with all sorts of disease of the body and mind. Our life expectancy has increased. But, I would stongly argue that we don't live longer, we die more slowly.

We are hairless apes. We have been very successful hairless apes, granted. But, we are still just animals with a little more baggage. :coffee:

But, yes, because of our success, we have been put in the position of "guardians" of the planet. The Earth is fucked as a result.

100,000 years is a blip in evolutionary terms. So you can't expect much of us anyway. We haven't really been around long enough to have made much advancement. Make sure you understand me here. I'm not talking about technology. I'm talking intellect. The fact is given time to acclimate and train him, you could take a guy from 75,000 years ago and make him indistinguishable from you or I. Other than he would probably be much shorter. But intellectually, he would have very similar capabilities.

And 100,000 is a generous number. There are some models that have us here for as little as 50,000.
