Christie was priceless the past couple days - I had nothing else to do but watch all the Sandy coverage. He's playing his cards for an Obama victory next week so he can be President in 2016, and he has my vote.

Getting the nomination is worthless if you are getting blown out in the general election.

Positioning themselves for 2016 is a pretty dumb take if you ask me dback. Maybe they are just guys that represent their people and are thankful for the help they are getting in a time of need. Why wouldn't that be your driving force if it was you? If it helps them in another way then so be it but overlooking the obvious because of some stupid party affiliation is just an absurd take on things.
Trying to find some semi devious take on this is just plain old horseshit.

I don't think so, especially where Christie is concerned. He doesn't strike me as that calculating. I think he means what he says, which is why people love him or hate him.dbackjon wrote:McConnell (R) - Governor of VA has been praising Obama.

If Romney wins he will be the incumbent in 2016, so Christie might not primary against him. On the other hand, if Romney loses then the GOP nomination is up for grabs in 2016.bulldog10jw wrote:How will praising BO help get you the Republican nomination ?dbackjon wrote:McConnell (R) - Governor of VA has been praising Obama.

So yeah, Christie improves his chances in 2016 if he throws Romney under the bus in 2012. However, as I said in the post above don't think Christie is posturing for 2016.

Re: Romney Has A Christie Problem, And A FEMA Problem..
I don't see a problem with Christie praising Obama's activities during Sandy.
Also, anyone who has worked closely with FEMA knows what a cock up that agency is. We knew in Charleston back in 1989 how bad it was. It took a Katrina to take the fail to the big stage, though. Senator Fritz Hollings himself (a big government Democrat) said that there had never been a bigger collection of jackasses ever assembled.
There is nothing wrong with suggesting FEMA be overhauled. It is a recognition that the organization has been over bureaucratized. The states do a VERY good job at disaster management in terms of National Guard participation in disasters, so perhaps FEMA can more efficiently exist as a supply and logistics operation under state management?
So I also see nothing wrong with Romney's suggestion about FEMA.

If you want to overhaul FEMA start by appointing people with real emergency management experience at the top instead of political allies just to repay a favor. I realize that is how things work in politics, but there are some positions that are too important to just put any one in charge.

LMAO party over country, typical RepsRomney insiders told Politico this week that New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie was Mitt Romney's first choice for the vice president, until he decided Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) would be a safer choice due to some problems with Christie.
The information comes just days before the 2012 election and was released in a story on Saturday, adding another narrative to the campaign as Romney and Ryan make their final pitch to voters. But it also comes during a week in which Christie has repeatedly praised President Barack Obama for his help during superstorm Sandy -- a move that, according to Politico, rankled the Romney campaign and could lead to tension should he become president:
From Politico:
In typical Christie fashion, there has been nothing understated about his role at each critical point, culminating with his tour with President Barack Obama on Marine One this week as they surveyed Sandy’s havoc along the Jersey Shore.
...
The differences were papered over. Now, some Romney friends and donors are irked by Christie’s embrace of Obama this week, which one referred to as “over the top."
"If Romney wins, it won't be forgotten,” the adviser said. "If Romney loses, it doesn't matter."
Despite endorsing Romney early in the race and campaigning for him, when asked whether he had asked Romney to visit the state, Christie kept the focus on the damage to New Jersey in the wake of the storm. "If you think right now I give a damn about presidential politics, then you don't know me," he said on "Fox and Friends" Tuesday.

FEMA Defends No More Help Over Texas Wildfires
The Federal Emergency Management Agency defended its decision to refuse to declare nearly all of the state a disaster in the wake of devastating wildfires, saying Wednesday that the state has already received sufficient U.S. government assistance.
Late Tuesday, Gov. Rick Perry criticized the White House after learning that his April 16 request for a federal major disaster declaration and additional help had been rejected.
"I think we've had 9,000 separate fires in the state of Texas," Perry told reporters in Austin on Wednesday. "The federal government has only helped us with 25 of them. That's inappropriate."
