The pharmaceutical giants are BOOMING
For-profit universities (exploding growth)
Eye glass / One Stop Doctor (Doc in the Box)
Health Clubs (growing)
Dental practices (Growing)
plastic surgery and beauty / cosmetics (exploding)
The list goes on and on and on....

Where profits are down:
Lessors of Real Estate
Traveler Accommodation & Hotel Industry
Community Care Facilities for the Elderly
Automobile Dealers Manufacturers and Associated Industries

The measure of corporate profits normally comes from an aggregation of financial reports of companies listed on indexes of publicly traded companies, usually the S&P 500, among others. Those profit margins have been declining for quite some time. Smaller, privately held companies are probably doing as bad or worse.
