NBA is back
I guess I shouldn't be as excited, because my team sucks...but I still enjoy watching the games. I think the real question of the year is whether or not anybody outside LA, Miami, or Boston has a chance. I loved OKC's chances until they inexplicably traded Harden. I know they didn't reach an agreement, but there's no reason why they had to trade him...they could've held onto him for this year's title run...

Just the pre-season is back. The real season starts sometime in April when the playoffs kick in. Between now and then it's just for fun.

Looking forward to some good basketball. See how the Lakers do with the new player mix and if the T-Wolves can survive until Love and Rubio return from injuries.

Re: NBA is back
Big Questions:
1. Who is #2 in the West now? OKC is not under consideration anymore, considering that they have traded Harden to the Rockets.
2. Can the Celtics-Heat rivalry decide the East this season? Miami's veteran-laden, Boston's got two rookies and a balance of players who are household names and not.

All the Ivy League needs to become relevant again is to diversify its OOC schedule.

Lakers 0-2 and Spencer Hawes with 5, count them five blocked shots last night vs the Nuggets. Good riddance Iggy.

Re: NBA is back
Yay. He hit those free throws. Doesn't change the fact that he was just a good player for 8 years when the Sixers needed him to be a fantastic player like they were paying him and counting on him for. I don't say good ridddance like BHBK, that's a little harsh, but I didn't really bat an eyelid when the Sixers unloaded him, and if Bynum can get on the court, everyone will agree it was great to trade him.DSUrocks07 wrote:bluehenbillk wrote:Lakers 0-2 and Spencer Hawes with 5, count them five blocked shots last night vs the Nuggets. So...is what you're saying that Iguodala was a value at $15M per year?? It's a yes or no question.DSUrocks07 wrote:bluehenbillk wrote:Lakers 0-2 and Spencer Hawes with 5, count them five blocked shots last night vs the Nuggets. Good riddance Iggy.![]()

Of course not. But "good riddance" is a bit of a stretch. Can't blame him for the contract he was offered. And Philly fans make it seem like he was a god-awful player.bluehenbillk wrote:So...is what you're saying that Iguodala was a value at $15M per year?? It's a yes or no question.DSUrocks07 wrote:

This thread is ABOUT basketball. You don't like it, take your hockey angst and start a "fire Gary Bettman" topic.Grizalltheway wrote:Bouncy ball?rkwittem wrote:

Re: NBA is back
He wasn't god-awful but with the contract he was given he was the face of the franchise. He thought he was a jump shooter & a 3-point guy but yet never improved his game enough to excel at that. He was a fairly decent defender until he guarded an All-Star caliber player. He shot free throws at an absurdly low %, which was more than half the reason that highlight you're showing was remarkable. Sixers fans had been looking foward to Iggy going for a few years & the day of the Bynum deal was met with a surge of excitement. Heck, if you ask Sixers fans today I'll say a minimum of 2/3 will give the thumbs up on the deal even if Bynum doesn't play a single game. That speaks volumes.DSUrocks07 wrote:Of course not. It's called addition by subtraction.

Re: NBA is back
I'm sorry, but OKC is still #1 until they show otherwise. Combo of Westbrook and Durant is still good enough to take out 95% of the teams in the NBA.1. Who is #2 in the West now? OKC is not under consideration anymore, considering that they have traded Harden to the Rockets.
2. Can the Celtics-Heat rivalry decide the East this season? Miami's veteran-laden, Boston's got two rookies and a balance of players who are household names and not.
And the East is the Heat's conference to lose. This is why bball doesn't matter since we already know who's going to be in the finals this year. Heat vs. OKC or Lakers.

Re: NBA is back
I'm not convinced that trading one of the NBA's 20 best players keeps you at status quo. Kevin Martin is ok, but no James Harden. The Lakers are great 1 through 5, but their bench worries me. No one else out west will have a real chance. San Antonio maybe...Seahawks08 wrote:I'm sorry, but OKC is still #1 until they show otherwise. I'd very much prefer if the NBA would contract about 4-6 teams (one from each division) to get back to what made the league great in the 80's. Teams used to be so much deeper. There wouldn't be teams full of role players like the Raptors running around anymore- those guys would be the 6th and 7th guys off the bench for good to great teams who currently have cruddy benches. The level of play would improve so much and some degree of parity would be added. Just an idea.

Mavs are going to be a force when Dirk comes back. They are improved at every position this season. Getting rid of Kidd and Terry was a great move.

Re: NBA is back
Lillard is looking more and more like the real deal. When he came into the league, I was hoping he'd be as good as Stuckey. Now he's got a legitimate shot to be the best NBA player to come out of the Big Sky since Michael Ray Richardson.
I don't think the Blazers are going to go anywhere this season but Lillard is going to be a lot of fun to watch.
