Re: Your biggest letdown. . .
I blame most of those picks on the receivers and not Armanti. There were like 3 of them that bounced off of receiver's hands into the defender's, one was the receiver tripped and fell down on a sideline bomb and the last was a desperation throw with game well in hand....it was very disappointing, but I couldn't blame Armanti for that loss...Skjellyfetti wrote:No doubt the 2008 game against Richmond. Words can't express the disappointment. Just was awful. in every imaginable way. Armanti had thrown 4 picks all season leading up to that game. Threw 5 that day.

Re: Your biggest letdown. . .
I think there are 4 of them....
1995 vs SFA...undefeated and top seed in the tournament...loss the 2nd round and not even close...
2007 @ Michigan....I was in the state of Michigan, but didn't go to the game....unforgivable...
...
2008 @ JMU...how do you relinquish that lead?
2009 @ Montana...just because I wasn't there to witness such a great game...no shame in losing that game...

Too many to pick just one.
2002 Montana State - If I had to pick one, this would probably be the biggest letdown ever. Since I'm only 23, it was the first real heartache I felt after a Griz game, especially being the year after we won it all, and having the tools to repeat. Plus it ended the streak.
2004 JMU - I honestly thought there was no way we were going to lose. (I was young, give me a break lol)
2006 UMASS - My freshman year at UM. Shulte was wide fucking open. Enough said.
2007 Wofford - Once we got into field goal range, everyone in the student section was stoked. There's no way Carpenter could miss.
2009 Nova - Much like in 2004, I honestly didn't think the team could lose. It was probably the most magical playoff run up to that point in the history of FCS. Had we won, it probably would have gone down as the greatest season in Montana history. Fucking Scissors...
2010 Montana State - It was cold and miserable. The Bobcat fans were insufferable. Three redzone turnovers in a row, where each possession would have given us the lead if we had not given it away. Lose and miss the playoffs. God fucking damnit.

1971. Second half leads in all 11 regular season games. Went 5-6. Not enough depth to hang with larger programs.
Losses to WVU, Wake Forest, Temple, Va Tech, Temple and UNC were hard and mostly depth related.
One of the reasons I'm so happy playing in FCS.

I was NOT at Wa/Griz to see the SDSU comeback. I WAS at Wa/Griz the following week to see a snoozer of a game against SFA. I was NOT at Wa/Griz the FOLLOWING week to see the best game ever at Wa/Griz against ASU....3 weeks, two unbelievable games, and I pick the snoozer to fly back to...

I wasn't at SDSU, but my dad went, and sent me text updates while I was working. I seriously went into work in the afternoon after we were down 30-something to 14 feeling like we were gonna lose.AZGrizFan wrote:My biggest let down:

I did make it to App State to weeks later, though. Got to sit in the North End Zone, which was great, but wished I had been in the student section at the end so I could have ran out onto the field earlier.

For me, it was the 2008 National Championship against Richmond. First Griz NC game I've seen in person...so far.
The teams we beat to get there, and how we were playing, I just knew we would win our third flag. Sadly, it didn't happen, and it STILL F'n HURTS...a lot!

Re: Your biggest letdown. . .
Cool thread here. Here's a few for Richmond:
1998 loss to Lehigh in the first round of the playoffs. We were the 3 seed and got bubble-screened to death.
Loss to App State up here in 2009 quarters. We were up 10 in the 4q and gacked up the lead. Really thought we had a chance to repeat that year. Amazing but gut-wrenching game.
Our most recent game, a 41-3 drubbing at the Indian Reservation. We had a shot at the playoffs on the line and didnt show up. Its been a long time since I've seen us get drubbed like that.

My biggest letdown was the NDSU BISON win over the Montana State Bobcats in last years playoff game. I was really primed for a good game. A game for the records, for the ages. A game that would live in infamy. Instead we got the yawner 42-17 game. Sure, it gave me that old BISON feeling. Sure we were big winners and we were simply "Watching-the-Stats" but i had hoped for more. Instead it's just another of those great BISON victories. The avg margin of victory for NDSU (at last caluculation) was around 21 pts. That includes our challenging FBS schedule too!

Re: Your biggest letdown. . .
That was only a quarterfinal loss. Bison team did better than expected. Losing a National Championship game is the biggest letdown. The one against Texas St was a big blowout loss, Troy St was a last second 50 yard field goal and much bigger than a early round loss.houndawg wrote:Huh? The Nova and Wofford losses. Hauck's pride cost us a championship, and a first round home loss with 9 million future NFL'ers on our roster
