old diehard Democrat Catholics will still vote...
...for Obama. I had a good long talk with one of my brother KOC last weekend who is retired Navy, 4th degree KOC, practicing Catholic and Obama supporter. Maybe it's time the one issue only Catholics take a step back and realize just getting them born, while great, isn't all there is. You gotta make sure policies are in place to HELP PEOPLE! Think about it.

I'm not Catholic but I was raised in a Catholic family. And I have thought about it. The bottom line is that if somebody kills you it doesn't help you a whole lot to have them say, "Well, if they wouldn't have killed you you'd be taken care of."psychoCAT wrote:...for Obama. You see one paradox. I see another. I see a paradox in the way in which liberals express all this concern over the young; wanting government programs to feed them if necessary, etc., while at the same time saying that people should be allowed to kill them if they just do it early enough. And for any reason including pure convenience.
Aside from that, I don't think you gotta make sure policies are in place to help people. It comes back to that question of what a right is. If you're alive that's something you have already. It's innate. You should have a right to keep your life without having someone else take it from you (unless, possibly, you do something like kill somebody else). Being taken care of is not something you innately have. It's something someone else has to give to you. And you have no right to compel others to take care of you.
Abortion is the denial of a inalienable right. One individual is taking another individual's life. Failing to take care of someone is not.
And I don't see how any issue could be more important than one involving the taking of about a million innocent lives per year. If you say, "Well, they're slaughtering all those innocents but I'll overlook that because I want to make sure the food stamp programs stay in place" there is something wrong with your sense of priorities.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

Obama won the catholic vote 54-45% according to wiki. I know a lot of die-hard catholic democrats that would never vote republican.

As a KOC who has worn the apron, all I can say is thank God we have changed the wording to now "Helping special needs people" or something along those lines. One of our ole former die hard brother Knights, passed in 2005, used to get fighting mad when somebody would mention our aprons. I can STILL hear him, "retarded is the proper scientific term." I used to just shake my head until he would leave.
