#1 NDSU vs Indiana State
Interesting match-up in the Valley this week.
NDSU (3-0 Valley 5-0 overall) takes on Indiana State (2-1 Valley 4-2 overall).
IMO, the key for the Bison is to stop Shakir Bell running the ball effectively. He ran for 337 yds against Drake earlier in the year and is a returning AA. He definitely will not run for that total but if he can get up over 150 then the Bison will be in trouble. ISU's QB (Perish) needs to establish a passing game to keep the pressure off of Bell. If they can effectively complete the short pass for 1st downs and run Bell consistently, the Bison will have trouble winning.
Having said all of that, I don't think the Bison will have a letdown. This team comes to each game (so far) and goes to work and gets the job done. After the YSU win there was no huge celebration just hand shakes and a prayer at midfield. This team is on a mission to win the Valley and have a successful playoff run. The Bison need a balanced offense and swarming, opportunistic defense to win this game. The crowd should make the atmosphere very 'welcoming' for the trees.
In the end, the Bison defense is just too good for the Trees to have much success. The Bison offense is really productive both running and passing right now. If they play like they did against YSU, this game could get ugly. If they come out flat and have multiple TOs then they could lose.
Bison win 38-10

38 is too low a number. If they could hang 48 on Youngstown, they'll hang that many on ISU.

Re: #1 NDSU vs Indiana State
To beat NDSU, imo, you have to throw to set up the run, and I don't think ISU can do that.
You matter. Unless you multiply yourself by c squared. Then you energy.

Re: #1 NDSU vs Indiana State
Don't know anything about Indiana State except Larry Bird played there. I see they have a Div II victory so have to go 8-3 to make playoffs. I see they are 4-2/2-1, and looking at their remaining schedule:
@ North Dakota State
@Western Illinois
South Dakota
Illinois State
@ Youngstown State
If they don't pull the monster upset, then they'd have to run the table their last 4 games make the playoffs. Don't see that happening.

Pretty pumped for another home game this weekend. I don't think it will be as lopsided as last weekend but I think the Bison will come to play and we will see a 3+ TD victory. The march is on to 6-0.

With a mediocre at best passing game, I do not think Ind State has a chance in this one.
It will be fun to watch Bell play in person.
Another sold-out game...it should be a fun atmosphere.

Taking a good buddy of mine and his two sons. All three cannot wait for the game.
Bison 'bottle up' Bell and make the Trees 1-dimensional with the pass.

NDSU must be stinkin' it up, because I cannot find one thread in which anyone is posting comments.
I still expect NDSU to win even if they suck today, that is what good teams do.

Congrats to Indiana State!
On a side note, I think this weekend proved that the FCS has a lot of great teams this year. JMU will probably be #1 on Monday, but I don't think there's a clear #1 (or top 5) this season. Gonna be a helluva playoffs.

Wow, both of ISU's touchdowns were pick-sixes.

and if I recall correctly, NDSU was moving down the field quite well in the latter half of the 4th (might have been close to FG range already), but instead of a game-tying kick or go-ahead TD, the Bison QB threw yet another INTMvemjsunpx wrote:Wow, both of ISU's touchdowns were pick-sixes.

That isn't possible, Brock Jensen is not only the best QB in FCS, but the best QB in all of college football, maybe even the NFL too. Hey ass**le....frickin go away.
Hats of to Indiana State, they played a great defensive game. Their offense could not do anything but it is a team game.
You would think a team gives up less than 200 total yards and only a FG that they would win easily. TOs kill ya....esp 2 pick 6s.
Still a lot of season left to play. Time to focus on USD next week.

He isn't making anything up dickhead. NDSU was marching for the win with 4 minutes left and Jensen threw his 3rd INT at about the 20 yard line of Indiana State.
Go frickin troll somewhere else loser.

The sense of entitlement runs deep with Bison nation. Classy, well reasoned posters like Gil and what's his name who used to post here but is too busy putting socialists in office are given a bad name by the 98% of NDSU posters who are not.
