I really hope we get rid of Affirmative Action

This is why Affirmative Action is in place in this counrty.

I realize why it's in place, and much like unions it may have originally served an honorable purpose, but things like Affirmative Action, NAACP, Black Congressmen's Coalition, Black this, Black that, etc., etc. are perpetuating racism....

These organizations were founded before 1930's. When AA did not have due process of law. Who was going to protect the black Farmer when his house was burned down?????? The Police.................lol

These organizations ONCE had their purpose (i.e., in the 1930's ) but NOW just perpetuate racism by dividing things up by race unnecessarily and bringing RACE into every discussion unnecessarily. A person's color does not matter, but with the continued existence of racist organizations like the ones I mentioned above, it DOES continue to matter, and allows the perpetuation of racist ideals.

There are hundreds of latino businesses all over the place and many of em get a good chunk of my disposable income - Speedy Muffler, several taquerias, a grocery store and numerous restaurants. Been living here for 10 years and I'm not aware of one black-owned business.

This is true. I moved to southern Illinois from northern California 28 years ago and there wasn't even a Taco Bell available. Now I get better Mexican food than I ate in CA - one of the local Mexican grocery stores has a kitchen and three tables in the back and the food is to fcking die for and if I were single I could eat there daily for cheaper than cooking for myself...

The asians here have also bought sizable chunks of farmland and grow much of their own food (CO-OP). They now comprise about 25% of the stalls at the farmer's market where they sell their excess - typically the best veggies and flowers.

No shit, my 25 year old son can barely finish a medium burrito at Dona Camilla's. His twin sister worked her way through school at a buffet restaurant where the kitchen help was all Mexicans. They got her coached way up on Spanish and when we go to the taqueria the cooks come out to see who is this gringa that speaks their language so well - except the Hondurans an El Salvadorans who complain about her Mexican accent. I order and they keep sending out extras at no charge. Nicest people you'll ever meet.
