Re: The Most Accurate Poll Says.......
I just walked down the street again - just to make sure I hadn't been dreaming
Baldy had me pretty terrified back there
Yup - it's still as bad as 2008
But the flying monkeys haven't knocked over the Tin Man and puled the straw out of me yet
so I've got time

There is something to that. You know that your candidate is losing, but you act like he is not losing so that you can continue to fund raise. People are more likely to donate money if they think their guy has a chance. Not many people want to donate to a lost cause.Skjellyfetti wrote:Or you could just convince yourself he's actually ahead in the polls.BlueHen86 wrote:If he continues to trail in the polls

Yeah, I agree. I was talking more about the guys on here convincing themselves Romney is in a dead heat.BlueHen86 wrote:

A surge of Democratic support for Obama has transformed the race since the first Dispatch Poll had the two dead-even at 45 percent just before the Republican National Convention in late August.
The survey is the fifth major poll — from The Washington Post to Fox News — of Ohio voters in a week to show the president ahead by 5 to 10 points. He also leads in surveys of most of the remaining swing states.
Obama’s rise comes at an especially fortuitous time for the Democrat: Ohioans begin casting early ballots in two days.

Drop in Ohio voter registration, especially in Dem strongholds, mirrors nationwide trendSkjellyfetti wrote:http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories ... -lead.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;A new Dispatch Poll shows him trailing President Barack Obama in bellwether Ohio by 9 points, 51 percent to 42 percent.

"Don't boo, vote," President Obama often says in his stump speech whenever crowds boo a Romney plan.
The off-hand call to vote may be by design. It comes amid a precipitous decline in Democratic voter registration in key swing states -- nowhere more apparent than in Ohio.
Voter registration in the Buckeye State is down by 490,000 people from four years ago. Of that reduction, 44 percent is in Cleveland and surrounding Cuyahoga County, where Democrats outnumber Republicans more than two to one.
"I think what we're seeing is a lot of spin and hype on the part of the Obama campaign to try to make it appear that they're going to cruise to victory in Ohio," Cuyahoga County Republican Chairman Rob Frost said. "It's not just Cuyahoga County. Nearly 350,000 of those voters are the decrease in the rolls in the three largest counties, Cuyahoga, Hamilton and Franklin."
Frost points out that those three counties all contain urban centers, where the largest Democrat vote traditionally has been.
Ohio is not alone. An August study by the left-leaning think tank Third Way showed that the Democratic voter registration decline in eight key swing states outnumbered the Republican decline by a 10-to-one ratio. In Florida, Democratic registration is down 4.9 percent, in Iowa down 9.5 percent. And in New Hampshire, it's down down 19.7 percent.

I'd love for some Dems on here to lay out the case for why Obama is deserving of another term. "Because he's not the other guy" is not an acceptable answer. What Baldy was laying out as far as BHO's accomplishments is pretty damning.....if I had an employee that was underperforming at that level he'd be out on the street.

Why is "...he's not the other guy" not an acceptable answer? That's been the answer now for, arguably, the last 5 elections. Why would it not be the case here too?ASUG8 wrote:I'd love for some Dems on here to lay out the case for why Obama is deserving of another term. I guess I'm hoping to have someone explain the rampant fervor for BO in spite of the facts that have been laid out. Those who bought into the "hope and change" in '08 have been saddled largely with the same presidential policies they castigate in GWB. It's like the dull stare of a dairy cow that you see in people camping out to get a new iphone simply because it's an iphone.GannonFan wrote:Why is "...he's not the other guy" not an acceptable answer? Can you explain why Romney would do any better?

Re: The Most Accurate Poll Says.......
But for me:
1) Potential Supreme Court Nominees
2) Equality for all
3) Wants to be President for ALL of the United States, not just his rich buddies
Just three big reasons of the top of my head
Is BO perfect? Hell no.
Far superior for the long term health of our country? Yup

The question wasn't making the case for Romney, just the blind trust in BO despite his results.dbackjon wrote:But for me:

Obama only jumped on the equality for all wagon after Biden messed up a year ago and admits his thoughts on gay marriage have evolved. His thoughts on equality for all didn't exist like this in '08 but he won in a landslide.
As far as the rich buddies thing, that's a tough case to make while he's busy jetting around on your dime for fundraisers all over the country just like Romney. Mitt could have toned down the rhetoric a bit in his statement about the 47%, but I'm not really certain he's that far off base with the amount of government dependence. The fact that it's an inconvenient truth is what really bit him in the ass with that comment.

As for 2 & 3...bullshit.
Tell that to the coal miners he's trying to get into unemployment lines in West VA, Pennsylvania, and Ohio by trying to "bankrupt" their employers out of business (Obama's words, not mine). At the same time he lines the pockets of of his rich buddies with your tax dollars at Solyndra, Tesla, Fisker, etc.
Tell that to the bond holders at General Motors who were screwed to the floor when the Obama administration circumvented normal bankruptcy procedures by letting his donors from the UAW pick apart the bones while the secured debtors were fucked over.
Blah blah blah...ALL politicians yada yada yada...that is true, but Obama has become the worst of the worst as far as political payola is concerned. ESPECIALLY when you consider all the "no lobbyists", "most transparent administration" promises he made in the 2008 election cycle.

Nobody with such authority has ever lied to the American people
Is it just dawning on you that these guys lie the moment their lips start moving..?
And:
When you're all done with you're "End of the world" emails - I'll check back in
and just in case you hadn't been paying attention = Romney / Obama 88% identical
