I agree with you, SD. The last team (that I know of, anyway) on any level that was successful with rotating QBs was the LA Rams of the early-to-mid 1950s. They had some pretty explosive offensed (over 500 yards passing and averaging around 39 ppg), but they were CLEARLY the exception to the rule.

A similar argument can be made about playing running back by committee, but that one is a little more tenuous, I think. I like to have some FB dive to set up iso, option, and toss sweep to the tailback. But I think your argument for ONE man under center is spot on.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

Disagree. RB by committee seems to be the way to go. 1) It doesn’t put all that wear and tear on one RB and 2) it gives the offense some versatility by going with either a power back or a speed back. Sure it would be great to have a guy that can do both but someone like that at the FCS level is a rarity. Also the rotating backs keeps them fresh throughout the game.

I think having several good backs to rotate is a good thing for the same reasons - keeping them fresh and having different tendencies for the defense to handle.

Sac State 31 @ 20 Idaho State ............. 11 wasn't enough. :)

Montana State 34 @ 28 Southern Utah ................. off by 1 point... figured it would be close. :thumb:

Portland State 23 @ 42 Northern Arizona.......... 5 points off..... not too bad.

Montana 20 @ 27 Eastern Washington....... Knew it would be a close game, per usual. Off by 1.

Cal Poly 35 @ 28 North Dakota..... figured CP had the D to pull it out. Impressed by the final margin.

Weber State 30 @ 20 UC Davis ....Weber is not as good as I thought, or UCD is better than I thought. Probably a little of both, but more the latter.

5-1 this week, puts me at 40-7 and one game ahead of Jalmond. :thumb:

5-1 as well, damned Weber State.

I was just thinking the same thing. I figured they would get hot after finding their offense against EWU last week. I just hope they keep sucking when they come to Sac in 2 weeks.

BTW how did WSU get shafted with 2 trips to NorCal this season? Doesn't MSU also take 2 NorCal trips as well?

I knew that was a terrible hire, fortunately (granted it fucked this season over) they won't have to deal with him anymore. I love seeing Arkansas lay an egg week after week. Karma is a bitch, and Arkansas is learning that lesson the hard way.

Going out on a limb in some games, so we'll see how it goes. As usual, all are my opinion only and they should generate some interesting discussion. Six games and Northern Colorado is off.

CP at UND---The Mustangs encountered a tough UC-Davis team but was able to get the win at home. The "Dakotans" got a great road win at Sacramento State and they are on the verge of a great season here...UND 38, CP 31.

UM at EWU---Hard to imagine but this game may be a must win for the Grizzlies after their head scratching loss at home to Northern Arizona. The Eagles held off a stubborn Weber State team to win on the road. Do the Grizzlies get a win on the road and salvage the season? Uh, no...EWU 35, UM 17.

MSU at SUU---The Bobcats showed that they are still dominate in a win against, well, Northern Colorado. The Thunderbirds had to rally for a road win against Portland State. Home field should help, but it is the Bobcats across the line...MSU 35, SUU 24.

PSU at NAU---The Vikings really wanted last week's game at home against Southern Utah but came up short. The Lumberjacks really wanted last week's game at Montana and they got it. Who wants this game more? Better believe it is the Jacks...NAU 38, PSU 17.

Sac State at ISU---Remember when the Hornets beat Colorado? That was before they struggled at home against Northern Colorado and lost to North Dakota. The Bengals are fresh off of a resounding defeat at FBS power Nebraska. Can the Hornets win here?...ISU 38, Sac State 21.

WSU at UCD---The Wildcats have not won a game yet this season, but they have played some pretty stiff competition. The Aggies have shown they have a defense that can shut down almost anyone as Cal Poly almost found out last week. Can the defense do enough here to get the win?...WSU 21, UCD 10.
Sickening. 3-3 for the week, brings me to 39-8 for the year so far. Way, way off on the scores as well. Very bad.

Where should I start?

1. True frosh starting at quarterback. (OK, he really isn't doing that bad).

2. No pass defense (We held Baumann to 92 yards rushing today, but Grossart torched us passing. Similar to Hendrickson at UND).

3. Inopportune penalties (Give up a first down on a penatly too many times, especially on third and short).

4. It seems Burton is the only person in Portland who has faith in the PSU defense (And he is proven wrong more often than not).

I think that is the biggest shock to me. That defense is loaded with juniors and seniors. Just surprising that an experienced unit is playing so poorly.

The D-line is experienced, that is why we seem to be able to stop the run, no matter who is running. The secondary has a lot of freshmen playing and we've always had a tough time stopping the pass, even when Glanville was here. Next week we have Idaho State and all they do is throw the ball. Could be a shootout beyond anyone's imagination.

Just blitz the shit out of them. Yost was torching our secondary in the first half, then our DC Parker went to nothing but blitzes that got to Yost and completely knocked him off his game. The Hornet defense held ISU to 8 2nd half points. ISU has a weak defense so I will be surprised if PSU struggles to move the ball.

Well you should do well against Cal Poly because we only throw for about 80 yards a game.
