Just "tragic" and "depressing". I sure hope the President orders all flags to be at half staff tomorrow. Heck, at least until the regular refs come back and the games return to perfect officiating. Stock market probably takes a tumble tomorrow, what with the millions of people who are sure to turn off NFL games now. First time in history that an officiating error has incorrectly decided a game. Just "tragic".

what have they been handed 5 games in the past 3 years - At least we know these officials aren't in on the NFL fixing Green Bay games like in the past

The replacement refs suck, but so do the regular refs. The biggest differences are that the replacement refs are slower and TV is making a bigger deal out of their mistakes.

I remember a few years ago a team missed the playoffs because because the refs ruled that they didn't punch the ball into the end zone even though replay showed that they did. Then there was the Thanksgiving Day game when the ref misheard the coin toss on overtime andgave the ball to the wrong team.

It's a hard sport to officiate. Every year the players get bigger and faster and the league changes the rules.

I'll always remember that game. I know it was Pit-Det and I think it was around '98. I was in Vegas at Caesars's Sports Book and took a bath on that misheard coin toss. I and several other people with money on that one drowned our sorrows while cursing the ref after that one was over.
