Hmmmm....mistake? Or pathalogical liar?Nearly 6 million Americans -- most of them in the middle class -- will face a tax penalty for not carrying medical coverage once President Barack Obama's health care overhaul law is fully in place, congressional budget analysts said Wednesday.
The new estimate amounts to an inconvenient fact for the administration, a reminder of what critics see as broken promises.
The numbers from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office are significantly higher than a previous projection by the same office in 2010, shortly after the law passed.
The earlier estimate found 4 million people would be affected. The difference -- 2 million people-- represents a 50 percent increase.
That's still only a sliver of the population, given that more than 150 million people currently are covered by employer plans. Nonetheless, in his first campaign for the White House, Obama pledged not to raise taxes on individuals making less than $200,000 a year and couples making less than $250,000.

Good, about time the rest of us no longer have to pay extra for our insurance/health care because of the millions of freeloaders like Superhornet going around without any insurance, nor a pot to piss in, nor a window to throw it out of.

It worked great in Massachusetts when Romney implemented it there - I lived there during the entire process

You realize that people are already getting checks back from their insurance providers, right?

From the exact same article AZ is referencing...
"However, the idea for an individual insurance requirement comes from Republican health care plans in the 1990s.
It's also a central element of the 2006 Massachusetts health care law signed by then-GOP Gov. Mitt Romney, now running against Obama and promising to repeal the federal law. The approach seems to have worked well in Massachusetts, with virtually all residents covered and dwindling numbers opting to pay the penalty instead.

b) I'm not voting for Romney. What's your point?
c) None of that changes the fact that 6 million people just saw their expenses rise.
You people bitch and moan about a $250-$300 tax increase on people, but have no problem with 6 million people being "penalized" for violating a bullshit requirement. The hypocrisy knows no bounds.

I've lived through it in Massachusetts
The experience was nowhere near as dramatic and emotional as FOX News would like us to believe
It went fairly smooth and actually solved a lot of problems
But I really don't know if our Federal Government is capable of executing what the State of Massachussetts seemed to have no problem with - that's my big issue - I'm fairly certain our Federal Government will screw this up somehow
Today I don't really care one way or the other
I have almost no feeling about it - been there done that - whatever who cares
and if it gets repealed I don't care either - has zero effect on me

The law specifically states that refunds will go to policy holders, not to their employers.AZGrizFan wrote:You do realize that the vast majority of those checks don't go to the "people", don't you?Grizalltheway wrote:You realize that people are already getting checks back from their insurance providers, right?

So it could be that Romneycare was a good thing and Obamacare a bad thing. That had to be a hard thing for you to admit.Chizzang wrote:Honestly I don't know if I'm for it or against it...89Hen wrote: So are you for this or against it?

Indeed Romney care is working well in Massachusetts
Obama Care might very well NOT work

Well, Romney care is starting to balloon in terms of costs. It works great in terms of coverage, the kicker, of course, is paying for it. Same will be the case for Obamacare.Chizzang wrote:I thought I just did say that..?89Hen wrote: So it could be that Romneycare was a good thing and Obamacare a bad thing. This article would seem to agree with Z...
http://thechart.blogs.cnn.com/2012/07/2 ... obamacare/In St. Louis, Rabbi Randy Fleisher received a $2,808 rebate check earlier this month for his synagogue, which pays 100% of the health insurance premiums for its ten full-time employees.

Re: Six Million to get hit with Obamacare Penalty
If your employer pays 100%, then yes, it goes to them. But if the employee has a pay-in, it goes to the employee.89Hen wrote:This article would seem to agree with Z...
