Can we play Towson or Villanova from time to time? We need more regional FCS opponents? I'd rather see DSU-UD every 3 or 4 years compared to every year. We need to build our fanbase and try to get people to come to games. The sad thing is that in the last home game against VMI there was about 4,000 in the stands but traffic was a BITCH getting to the stadium.

I know that on-campus stadiums are the rage and people think that it's always better to have one on campus, but I don't think that can work in Dover. DSU needs to seriously consider acquiring the area north of campus where Sam's club is or here's a really long shot, the old Blue Hen Mall location for building a large stadium there. Both of those areas have better access routes than trying to get on-campus now.

I think that the City would be interested in it as well. (Maybe not the oldheads who whine and complain about anything that spends $1 of tax money and want to compare a freakin' art performance house to an arena which pretty much killed the DCC project) :coffee:

Seems curious that DelState has problems handling 4,000 while the facility directly across the street has handled 140,000 for events routinely and also just hosted the three-day long Firefly Festival with The Black Keys, Jack White, etc.

Uh, wtf? :coffee:

Word is that after Wal-mart moved up the highway that Sam's Club is looking to move as well.

Access points. DSU for football games has ONE way in and out of campus. A whole lot different than the speedway which has dozens of access points, and back where Firefly was where you had Rt. 9 as well.

On gamedays, Alumni Stadium is NOT easy to get too. You would think that there were 25,000 people trying to get to the game with the traffic backups on 13.

Who is God's name is going to give DSU any money for a stadium? :suspicious:

"The U.S. Department of Education has asked Delaware State University to give back millions of dollars in federal funds following an investigation that uncovered problems with the school’s financial aid system.

The university also disclosed the issue in a statement to bond investors on Feb. 29. Identifying it as a potential financial liability, DSU said the federal government asked for a repayment of $3.82 million in a Dec. 6, 2011, letter.

And that is AFTER DSU has already paid back another $713,661 in federal funds where 173 students did not complete a single class.

"About 4,800 students received at least one F between 2004 and 2008"

But in the documents released by the federal agency, the investigation found 277 students who received all failing grades during a given semester. Of those, 173 were freshmen who then withdrew from the university. The other 104 were upperclassman who earned passing grades in prior semesters.

DSU has about 3,500 students. 277 of them received ALL failing grades? :tothehand:

Even better, yet again, DSU officials say that the public has no right to know anything.

Ooops!

DSU officials reached a settlement with the education department last month and will pay some amount less than $3.82 million. But DSU general counsel Tom Preston would not say how much, claiming a confidentiality agreement with the government.

He also refused to release the government’s letter detailing the findings of the investigation or any subsequent communication between DSU and the federal agency leading to the settlement, saying those documents were not public.

In response to a request Friday from The News Journal, the federal education department released the letter, which says in its first paragraph that information in the review is subject to Freedom of Information Act requests. The agency did not disclose the settlement agreement, however. DSU misunderstood the terms of the settlement confidentiality when it refused to provide the documents, spokesman Carlos Holmes said.

I'd love for DSU to come into the 21st century and become a good school...it would be great for Delaware. But those fools in charge keep shooting themselves in the foot...on so many levels. :dunce:

The closest game ever played that wasn't even within a 3 score differential for an entire half of football.

Heard Keeler wants to bring in Presby, USD and Savannah St. next season. Maybe it would be for the best.

Truthfully, I have no issue playing Del State every year. I think it's really smart to replace West Chester with Del State.

What I wanted to highlight for everyone is that the game was never in any doubt whatsoever. It wasn't close. The game was over by halftime. The longest of our 6 scoring drive took just 4 minutes. If we wanted to run the clock we could have. We gave you the underneath passes all game and let you slowly bleed yourselves and the clock dry.

That all said, I think DSU might end up having a pretty decent year in the MEAC. You can certainly possess the football. It'll just be a matter of finding a balance that allows you to keep a defense honest by running it better (which will open up the vertical options), and tightening up the red zone defense.

It is smart to replace WCUPA with a I-AA, but not necessarily DelSt. They will absolutely keep pressuring for some sort of home game and I will wager within 5 years they will be petitioning the state to get involved to make it so.

I know the weather was shitty, but that was by FAR the smallest crowd I've EVER seen at Delaware Stadium for a Hens game, including the blizzard game against UNI. :ohno:

The weather forecast was for severe storms at game time with potential hail. Plus, the game was on a national HD broadcast. Just a recipe for a half empty stadium. Student attendance was actually very good.

I'd go see a playoff game after a blizzard 20 times before I'd sit through heat, humidity, and a hail storm to see DSU.

All I know is I was promised a PACKED house if UD agreed to replace WCUPA with DelSt. Or are you calling henfan a liar?
