Chucktown Throwdown is on

Post by CSUBUCDAD »

Up at my usual early 4:30 excited to see some college football today. Most notably the renewal of Chucktown Throwdown. Been awhile coming but I know that the Bucs are ready. They have had a good week of practice and coming off a winless season last year there is an air of chip on the shoulder attitude with them. Kickoff at 6. Between now and then, many brats and college football.

It was on for the first half of the game. I was there in the visiting stands high-fiving President Dr. Hunter in the first half. Then, after half-time we were in the stands shaking our heads wondering what was happening.

That second half was dreadful! Yes, Citadel executed their offense very well, but we should have and could have hung with them. The second half was more about our turnovers and lack of offensive execution. We were unable to possess the ball with any consistency against a good team. That in turn put the defense back on the field too often without having any type of break for water, to catch a breath, and to make adjustments and strategize. The lack of offense execution affected the whole team in the second half. Parrera dropped a key pass. We fumbled. We missed blocks on the OL. Too many penalties from the OL.

However, I am still convinced and will stay convinced until I see otherwise that Malcolm Dixon should NOT be the QB for this team. I believe he is incapable of leading this offense and executing in the QB position. He is great running with ball. He should be at WR, like he was recruited. I believe Dixon is holding this offense back.

I like the new defense. I could tell a difference in intensity, tackling, and going for a turnover. The defense IS improved.

I lke the agressive approach of the defense as well BUT if you cannot adjust to a simple change in blocking scheme by the OL then you get just what you saw happen. All the Dogs did was change up the blocking of the guard and tackle on the side of the run. That was it and the Bucs, for whatever reason could not readjust to stop it.
