With Ryan voting with Obama and McCain on the bailout, it makes it difficult to consider Romney. Well, he did get bin Laden, which could have been much bigger if he'd been smart enough to declare victory and go home. Had he done that our economy would be dragging one less anchor today. I'm with kalm, I may write in Bernie Sanders and Angela Davis...

I am pointing out the simple lack of substance. The Obama campaign won't even flout its signature accomplishment (Obamacare) these days. Given the opportunity to at least invent or obfuscate about their own record, they choose to talk about Romney's wealth, how he is personally carcinogenic to former workers and probably a felon.

BTW I am voting 3rd party for the 3rd election in a row, but I am doing it less because of the ineptitude of the GOP and more because of the process in this country that actually encourages the absolute chicanery that the Democrats are pulling right now. The worst part is that people who I personally know to be quite intelligent are not only buying the crap, they are propagating it.

Again, the Democrats most definitely are in meltdown mode; the lack of substance and accomplishment from their Dear Leader are stretching their creative powers to the absolute limit.

Ryan's budget will be hammered again and again and again until the elections. Huckabee has no such baggage.

Romney is a Mormon. Huck is a Baptist minister.

Better choice, IMO.

Although, it's possible that Ryan was chosen, at least partially, to try to win the swing state of Wisconsin.

Despite the economy and everything else, Romney is running from behind and In order to have a chance in November he has to assume he will get the votes of the religious right and take steps to woo centrist-independent voters in key states. Huck has almost no appeal among those voters. Ryan's budget is both a negative and a positive with these voters. Many of them are concerned about the deficit and want the government to do something about it. They might not completely like Ryan's solution but at least he's proposed something rather than sticking his head in the sand and hoping the problem goes away with more spending (kind of like someone who is unemployed spending their time at the bar while hoping to find a job and wondering why their bank account balance keeps dropping). And criticizing Ryan's budget is a two-edged sword, the easy response from Romney/Ryan is to double-dog dare Obama to put forward something better. Indies are looking for solutions to this and other problems.

They won't vote for Obama, but a lot of them won't vote for a Mormon either. He should have solidified the base with the Baptist preacher. Most of the independents have already made up their minds, I think.
