I wonder if anyone has done a poll showing how many people who voted for Obama in 2008 will vote for Romney in 2012 because of this talking point.

My guess is that most of the people who are upset by Obama's statement didn't like him in the first place and are just looking for stuff to get upset over.

On the other hand, the polls do seem to be tightening up, but that could be because of Romney's VP pick, which I think was a good one.

Well, the Democrats are pretty pleased with the pick.

Better for the democrats maybe. Huckabee might get the religious vote fired up but it wouldn't get the economic conservatives fired up. Pawlenty can't get anybody fired up. :coffee:

Ryan's budget will be hammered again and again and again until the elections. Huckabee has no such baggage.

Romney is a Mormon. Huck is a Baptist minister.

Better choice, IMO.

Although, it's possible that Ryan was chosen, at least partially, to try to win the swing state of Wisconsin.

Whatever, it's done now.

Despite the economy and everything else, Romney is running from behind and In order to have a chance in November he has to assume he will get the votes of the religious right and take steps to woo centrist-independent voters in key states. Huck has almost no appeal among those voters. Ryan's budget is both a negative and a positive with these voters. Many of them are concerned about the deficit and want the government to do something about it. They might not completely like Ryan's solution but at least he's proposed something rather than sticking his head in the sand and hoping the problem goes away with more spending (kind of like someone who is unemployed spending their time at the bar while hoping to find a job and wondering why their bank account balance keeps dropping). And criticizing Ryan's budget is a two-edged sword, the easy response from Romney/Ryan is to double-dog dare Obama to put forward something better. Indies are looking for solutions to this and other problems.

There's nothing to lie about. Every time the guy goes off the TelePrompTer he lays a turd. Although the WH insists he was taken out of context, I listened to the entire speech and his "you didn't build that" comment was the only thing of substance there, and it was standalone.

Starting to see some lib meltdown going on now. The tax return thing isn't getting traction, Mediscare isn't working, and the most newsworthy thing about the Obama campaign this week was Hillary's rumored rejection of the VP offer, calling SEALs gutless, and Biden's banishment to Wilmington.

Lib meltdown? Uh...do we really seem worried to you?

The election may not be close.

But as far as debating, I would have said the same thing about Obama. From what I remember, his debate style was filled with a lot of, ums, ohs, uhs, and blank expressions as he looked for his teleprompter.

I think the debates come down to which candidate seems more likeable.

I thought Gore made better points in all three debates against Bush, but he seemed to have a different personality in each debate, meanwhile Bush seemed more likeable and a lot less creepy.

I am pointing out the simple lack of substance. The Obama campaign won't even flout its signature accomplishment (Obamacare) these days. Given the opportunity to at least invent or obfuscate about their own record, they choose to talk about Romney's wealth, how he is personally carcinogenic to former workers and probably a felon.

BTW I am voting 3rd party for the 3rd election in a row, but I am doing it less because of the ineptitude of the GOP and more because of the process in this country that actually encourages the absolute chicanery that the Democrats are pulling right now. The worst part is that people who I personally know to be quite intelligent are not only buying the crap, they are propagating it.

Again, the Democrats most definitely are in meltdown mode; the lack of substance and accomplishment from their Dear Leader are stretching their creative powers to the absolute limit.

You know you are voting 3rd party too, you fraud. I'm pulling your liberal card.

Chicanery? Democrats have been politicking like Republicans for 20 years now. One panders to social conservatives and the other to unions and nanny state do-gooders. Other than that, they're pretty much identical, equally dishonest, and corporatist.

I'm with you on the 3rd party thing. I might be voting a straight libertarian/socialist workers party ticket!
