High School -- Trosin made the most of his one season as starting quarterback under head coach Kris Richardson at Folsom High School, shattering school, section and state records by completing 360 of 527 passes (68 percent) for 5,185 yards and 49 touchdowns with 17 interceptions en route to Max Preps State Division II Player of the Year honors. He finished No. 3 in the nation in passer ratings and No. 1 in California. Four of his games exceeded the 400-yard mark in passing, including a Northern California record 601-yard performance in a 49-46 victory against Deer Valley when he completed 34 of 49 passes, and he produced seven other 300-yard passing games. Trosin also surpassed the 1,000-yard mark in rushing, accumulating 1,179 yards on 215 carries and scoring 20 touchdowns. His totals include five games over the 100-yard mark, including a season-best 167 yards against Jesuit. Trosin’s state record 6,364 yards in total offense was No. 2 in the nation and No. 1 in the state, and his 69 total touchdowns are the second most in state history, behind only fellow Bulldog Dano Graves’ 85 in 2010. Folsom posted an 11-3 overall record, finished second in the Delta River League at 4-1 and reached the championship game of the CIF-Sac-Joaquin Section Division II playoffs against Vacaville, won by Vacaville 39-35. Trosin passed for 407 yards and four touchdowns, completing 25 of 41 passes, and rushed for 101 yards and another score in the title game. Trosin played in the Holiday Classic all-star game in December 2011. His postseason honors include MaxPreps Medium Schools All-American Second Team presented by the U.S. Air Force, All-CIF-Sac-Joaquin Section All-American Offensive Player of the Year as chosen by Max Preps, Co-Most Valuable Player of the Delta River League and Sacramento Bee All-Metro Offensive Player of the Year. As a junior, Trosin was a starter at defensive back and backed up quarterback Dano Graves (now at Air Force). He made 35 tackle (27 solo) and intercepted two passes, returning one 80 yards for a touchdown, and on offense rushed for 219 yards and three scores, completed 14 of 19 passes for 233 yards and two more touchdowns and caught nine passes for 69 yards and a pair of scores. He also lettered in basketball three times and in track and field as a freshman and sophomore.
