Coach Moore: Last season’s team got big in the head

Post by Aho Old Guy »

“We had people here last year that cared more about themselves than the program,” said Moore. “I wrote personal, handwritten notes to some players’ moms that their scholarships were in jeopardy, and it made no difference.”

Moore said the Mountaineers missed gutsy players like Richie Williams and Trey Elder, who played key roles during the national championship stretch.

“We didn’t have that intangible thing like they brought,” said Moore.

This is the second article with Moore talking about last year's sense of entitlement among the players. He has admitted the coaching staff problems back in spring practice so this has been a theme of admitting those mistakes. He really doesn't want to go through another season like that again.

Excluding graduating seniors since last Summer (by my 'mountain math'), Appalachian has 'churned' 6 or 7 guys out the door. I suspect that is a bit more than usual over the years.

Roughly half probably lost due to their 'Montana Moments'

:poke:

Maybe we should compare 'rap sheets' prior to the 8th of September
