Re: Fuck you Rahm Emanuel
The last time I checked Dan Cathy was a private citizen and his speech is protected under the first amendment, whether a sector of the population agrees with it or not.
As for Rahm Emmanuel trying to block Chick-Fil-A from opening new restaurants in Chicago in a lawful manner, I can't think of a better way for Rahm to get his pants sued off.
One other thing... somewhere along the way it occured to me that freedom of speech only applies to liberals, and that the first rule of political correctness is this: Free speech only applies if such speech conforms to liberal orthodoxy, otherwise it is hate speech and must be censored.

Has Chick-fil-a actually denied any constitutional rights? To my knowledge, they do not discriminate in hiring against homosexuals (not a protected class) nor deny homosexuals the ability to purchase their product. Their only sin, as far as I can tell, is not being open on Sundays--which invariably, as others have mentioned, is when I crave Chick-fil-a.kalm wrote:Oh for goodness sake.JohnStOnge wrote:

This whole thing is an excellent illustration of the fact that progressives/liberals believe in free thought only as long as that thought coincides with progressive/liberal belief. As soon as thought deviates from progressive/liberal belief, it must be repressed.
Of course he has every right to express his beliefs. Just like any free thinking person such as myself has every right to ridicule those beliefs.
I could give a frogs fat ass whether or not he chooses to have his restaurants open on Sundays. I do however take exception to his support of denying people their constitutional rights which his company has actively done.

Well I have no problem with someone disagreeing with him and not eating at his restaurants. But elected officials to deny him the right to open a restaurant in their cities is a pretty slippery slope. These mayors are elected to run the local government. That is true. But he is not a government official deciding who can and can't do business based on the owners personal beliefs. That is without a doubt an overreach of authority. I don't agree with his opinions, but I can't support any government punishing him or his company for them. That is dangerous shit and an awful precedent to set.dbackjon wrote:ASUMountaineer wrote:
