Re: NCAA sanctions against Penn State
I think what you saw yesterday was the NCAA & the school Presidents throwing the gauntlet down & reminding schools across the country that the head football coach is no longer the most powerful person at their respective University. Honestly I'm trying to think of anyone currently in college football, at any of the BCS schools that is in the position JoePa was, where to steal from the recession, he was "too big to fire/force into retirement whatever."Franks Tanks wrote: Are you serious? He didn't say PSU wasn't at fault in any way, he said PSU had a culture that was no different that any big time program, and in fact let Joe stay much longer than most. Therefore they were less about winning than an SEC school who fires a 9-3 coach.
Also Jerry being in the box had nothing to do with culture and everything to do with the failure of a few men. Interesting that you bring up this example when it does not support your point. The PSU culture didn't know about Jerry, and few men did, just as was originally suggested.
You keep bringing up just a few men & yes just a few men are guilty in a court of law, but as a citizen of Pennsylvania, if you haven't just shook your head in wonderment at some of the reactions you've seen from PSU trustees, students and alums over the past few months you're not worth having a conversation with.
Listen to the Erickson interview from yesterday, there was only one other option PSU had - at least 2 years of the Death Penalty.

For those who believe the Freeh Report is gospel
... you might want to listen to these interviews by Kevin Slaten of KFNS radio in St. Louis. All are pretty informative, but if you listen to only one, I suggest you listen to the most recent interview with Anthony Lubrano, a member of the Penn State Board of Trustees.

Another Freeh Report is overturned by .....
the Court of Arbitration for Sport for failing to present evidence to support accusations contained in the report. Sound familiar?
http://espn.go.com/sports/soccer/story/ ... ibery-case
However, the court panel refused to declare bin Hammam innocent of corruption. It overturned the ban because a FIFA probe led by former FBI director Louis Freeh's agency failed to find conclusive evidence.
"It is a situation of 'case not proven,' coupled with concern on the part of the Panel that the FIFA investigation was not complete or comprehensive enough to fill the gaps in the record," sport's highest court said in a statement.

I understand that there are some schools that would rather replace a president than replace the HC. But if that's the case here that had nothing to do with with the lack of action on the abuse.
