Obama's favorability rating is now at 36% according to the latest NY Times/CBS poll. No incumbent has ever won with a favorability rating so low.

But there is a first for everything. Mitt is checking in at 32%!

The president's problem is that his unfavorability is sitting at 48%, while Mitt is only at 38%, so there are a lot of voters who don't have a firm opinion on Romney yet. The president needs to drive Mitt's negative numbers up among those with no opinion.

This could be a very negative campaign season.
