Re: Your "Comforting" Bible
Shockingly the atheists who made that left some language out and took things out of context. The house master had a male guest and a bunch of bad guys came over demanding that he turn over a male guest so they could rape him. He offered to let them have his daughter as well as his concubine instead at first but eventually sent out only his concubine.
The bad guys raped her all night and killed her. The next day the house master cut her into 12 pieces for the purpose of sending them to the 12 tribes of Israel as part of reporting the horrific crime on the part of the bad guys.
So Israel mobilized and sent an army to the town where it happened (Gibeah), which was in the area controlled by the tribe of Benjamin. The other tribes asked that the Benjamites to turn over the bad guys that had raped and killed the concubine but the Benjamites refused and assembled an army to fight. So there was a war that the Benjamites were winning at first but then the other tribes drew them into an ambush and won. They destroyed Gibeah.
The end. Good story. The bad guys and those who protected them from justice got what was coming to them. Kind of like a Dirty Harry movie. Now you can say that the house master shouldn't have sent the concubine out. But somebody was going to get raped. Me, I'd have probably told my male guest "tough luck dude." But that's just me.
BTW I like the concubine concept. Wish my wife would go for it.

Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?
Deep Purple: No One Came
