Obama questions Romney's economic qualifications

President Barack Obama questioned presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney's economic credentials, saying that while his tenure at private equity firm Bain Capital doesn't "disqualify" him from running for president, it won't necessarily translate into job growth for Americans.

"When some people question why I would challenge his Bain record, the point I've made there in the past is, if you're a head of a large private equity firm or hedge fund, your job is to make money. It's not to create jobs. It's not even to create a successful business - it's to make sure that you're maximizing returns for your investor. Now that's appropriate. That's part of the American way. That's part of the system. But that doesn't necessarily make you qualified to think about the economy as a whole, because as president, my job is to think about the workers. My job is to think about communities, where jobs have been outsourced.

Hmmm....our community organizer in chief that ran on hope and change vaporware now questions that a candidate who created a multimillion dollar venture capital company, was a state governor, and pulled off coordinating a winter Olympiad is qualified to think about the big picture?

You forgot that he also provided universal insurance for his state which then became a blue print for Obamacare.

Lemme get this straight, a man who has absolutely zero business experience is questioning the business qualifications of a man who started and built a multi-billion dollar international corporation? :suspicious:

Talk about an "arm chair quarterback"....we have us an "arm chair president". :ohno:

Running a business is not the same as running a government. We've had generals and actors with no real world business experience run the country before.

However, I agree that it's a pretty silly remark by Obama considering Romney was a governor as well. BTW, how many jobs did Romney create as governor?

Romney is great for the economy - of China.

For the United States, his policies would be a disaster.

It will probably be difficult for MAQA yahoos to overcome the Qult programming but they should give being rational & reasonable a try.

No, we have a choice between two men, neither of whose father's were born in the US.

One father was successful in the automotive industry, before becoming Governor of Michigan and leading the State out of a fiscal crisis, while raising his family.

The other was an oil company and government economist who abandoned his families, was fired from his job and had an alcohol problem.

I didn't realize the candidate's father's were also on the ballot. How about their maternal grandfathers, can you give us the breakdown on that all important criteria too? :coffee:

I have no clue and it really doesn't matter when you consider the unemployment rate when Romney entered office was 5.6% and when he left office it was 4.6%. Figures in that range are pretty much considered "full employment". When your unemployment rate is extremely low, is there really a economic need to create more jobs?

Well, everybody can see how further tax cuts for the "job creators" is the fix for this economy.

What could be so difficult about that? Just pisses me off that things were not that simple back when I took Econ 101, I could have got an A without even having to go to class.

I have read some about his Olympic experience. Impressive stuff especially if you know that Romney INHERITED a goat rope and then went to work and fixed it. (the best way to avoid having to resort to blaming your predecessor).

Romney isnt the most exciting candidate. I also understand that there are people of the honest opinion that Obama is the better guy for the job. But- what I don't get is how people are so lockstep behind the guy on his claims when he is so obviously full of it when he makes statements like this.

Romney was a job destroyer. All you need to know.

He will create plenty of jobs - just gotta move to China/Vietnam, etc to get them.
